After giving the Brownie return much thought I came to the conclusion that I'd sooner have him back than all the names I've seen mentioned in connection with the job, this is how bad things are at the moment

Him coming back wouldn't stop me. I thought it was a shame it came to it, but the decision to replace him was correct*. We were doomed with him that season so we needed to give ourselves a chance of changing it. There's no grudges or bad feeling about how poor he was for over a year, and I said at the time that if he gets a job elsewhere then I'd wish him well and hope he'd learnt from his mistakes. *The fact the wrong person replaced him I consider a seperate decision.
