Email I just got from Club Wembley... We are delighted to confirm that The Football Association has today announced the appointment of Roy Hodgson as England manager. Joining from West Bromwich Albion, Hodgson has agreed a four year deal to become the full-time manager of the Three Lions. Hodgson, aged 64, who has won a total of eight league titles in a distinguished career, and coached the national teams of Switzerland, Finland and the United Arab Emirates, met with FA officials at Wembley on Monday. Having taken Switzerland to the FIFA World Cup⢠in 1994 â their first Finals competition for 28 years â Hodgson also achieved a FIFA ranking of 3rd in the World as well as successfully qualifying the team for Euro 96. His former clubs include Inter Milan, Blackburn Rovers, Grasshoppers, FC Copenhagen, Fulham and Liverpool. He has also managed in Norway and Sweden. In addition, he has been a regular member of FIFA and UEFAâs technical study groups at tournaments. Along with his vast experience of international and European football, Hodgson is the only English manager currently working in the top flight to have won the LMA manager of the year award. The new manager will take charge of England at Wembley for the first time, when the Three Lions take on Belgium on Saturday 2 June at Wembley Stadium (kick-off 5.15pm).
It sounds like Woy is getting a bit of grief in his first press conference, there against him before he's even started.
no wonder england never do anything, all the **** hes getting before hes even put his tracksuit on.. he actually has a decent cv when you look at it, i for one am going to give him a chance and see how he gets on..
I see the idiots at the FA haven't learnt a thing from hiring Capello, another 4 year deal for the new England manager. I think it's good to have faith in someone but if he has a bad Euros or doesn't qualify for WC 14 then all hells going to come down on them AGAIN!
This appointment has just made my day, and during a lot of gloom regarding City, has put a smile on my face. Nothing to do with football or records, just the fact that I turned on Sky Sports News to hear Roy Hodgson commenting on how He and.... "... Hawwy Wedknapp have unwittingly become Wivals." I'm easily amused...

Apparantly Harrys wife put the blocks on him getting the England job. The New manager has to live in the Midlands at the new HQ. Harry and wife wont leave Bournmouth and a commute is not on. So it Woy or Stu Pearce ? Woy it is then.!!!
Euro 2012 is a Free Hit for Roy. But the WC qualifiers are another matter i would suggest. Thats when the pressure will be on him.
Apparently, Roy Hodgson speaks five languages, fluently. Papa Allam can speak (Egyptian) Arabic and English. When will he learn to talk sense?
the more i learn about hodgson, the happier i am with the decision... his cv ****s on redknapps, hes a hands on coach with overseas and international experience to a fairly high degree of success, tho as usual the press will see to it he doesnt get far
He blows Redknapp out of the water, think they got the better man for sure. I think we had a debate on here before about managers coming from England but it would have been nice to see somebody like the Special One take charge for the summer, I'd even like to see Wenger have a go or Fergie, why not, they could have spent the summer then researching managers and maybe got the perfect coach.
