Alan pardew has revealed that Stephen Ireland is on a pay-as-you-play deal at Newcastle because he was injured at the start of his loan period.

Now, I have to say that it is so pleasing to see common sense being used in this kind of situation.

We don't waste our money on an injured player who may not join us anyway, and he has the incentive to get fit and secure a place in the team.

Could explain why I recently saw Ireland on a street corner as he shook a begging bowl at passers by from the comfort of his Bentley.

    I took a £1.

A couple of years ago we would have been paying him to sit in the treatment room. £70k does not fit with our wage cap so I very much doubt that he will be on that type of money if we sign him permanantly

I can't imagine him wanting to take a huge cut in his wages, would love him too though!

Glad that we're not paying him for not playing, hopefully he can come in and do a good job from now until the end of the season
