Excellent news regards Louis Carey,I would imagine he will be a happy bunny considering his feelings at Burnley were tinged with sadness:emoticon-0119-puke:.

He was mom keeping Charlie Austin quite all game.

I think he will go on to beat John Ateyos all time record, well done to the club,he was instrumental in keeping the club in the championship this season.

Sad to see Jamie Mac go but it must be said it is time for him to be replaced,Have to say he has been a major player for us up until this last season.I sure he will find another club.

David James for me has been a major major expense that should never have arrived the two goalkeepers that were here were good enough.

Next season i'm sure will bring some suprises regards signings, one thing for sure it can not get any worse than this season:laugh:.

I really do hope Louis can break the record set by John Ateyo. There is no doubt that big John is a legend for the club who will always remain an integral part of our history but for a modern day player to play more than 645 games for one club is a truly fantastic achievement.

Well done to city for offering the opportunity, but most importantly well done to Louis for working so hard with so much passion to earn another contract.

I think Louis still has something to offer so was pleased to see him get a deal - don't think he will start many games though, so not a foregone conclusion about breaking the record

Norman Hunter joined us when he was 33 and played until he was 36 and what a stalwart he was,Louis deserves another year, remember he fractured his skull playing for our cause,it's not a job for the boys act,he will be quality back-up whilst Del rebuilds and develops our team...

Bullshit. We don't know how much he'll play and what he's being paid. The man deserves another contract even if he only manages a handful next year.

'Terrible decision'... I wonder about you all sometimes.

Nice to see some repayment for LC's commitment to BCFC and it will surely be repaid because he must have thought he was on his way to pastures new.

Until recently I used to see his goal from the playoffs versus Crstal Palace on Fox Sports here in Canada and it always brought a smile to my face because you could see commitment in his face. Regrettably Fox Sports are no longer available and have been replaced with some rubbish programme on hunting/fishing etc. How dare they!!!!

Wiz and norman was quality till the end.
Quality does not just disappear.you may become slower, but you read the game better to compensate for the slower reaction.

With the amount of players being shipped out we need to keep some of the stalwarts around while
Del moulds the squad into something that suits his style of playing. You need to balance the new faces
with a bit of continuity and I think this is a sensible move. Plus Louis is class and can easily do a job
when called upon as he has proved this season. I can't see one more year being a problem.

Absolute brilliant news......Louis Carey has been a superb defender for the Robins & always gives 100%, he could go onto to beat John Atyeo's appearance record...........I may change my name to, "The great Louis Carey"........perhaps not !!

Paul Trollope made a mistake when he shipped out Steve Elliott and Craig Hinton.
Their value was not only on the pitch but around the place.
Buckle got rid of the rest of the stalwarts, somehow levering Campbell out,
who was a cornerstone of the club. Clubs need a few players around who will
go through brick walls for the cause; sometimes their presence in the squad
    is enough.
As an aside, what's happened to Carey's appearance? He looks now as if he's
    auditioning for the Village People!

Not that convinced myself actually.. and thats not to decry his previous contributions to BCFC.

But, I suppose he will be great cover for a few positions and wont be crying like a baby being a bit part player..

I can only see him playing a handful of games as cover if needed. But nothing more.

Yes he is a city legend, but if we want to move on we can't be held back by sentiment. A years contract is fair to bed in the new players but I won't expect to see him getting the record.

Two months ago I would have thought that LC did not have a chance of staying. BUT to be fair, his performances in this eight match unbeaten run have certainly made DMc change his mind and offer him a one year deal.

My only problem with this is as posted on another thread; we now have Carey, Wilson, Fontaine and Nyatanga for centre back. BUT none of these is the "built like a brick ****house, nothing goes past me" type of centre half that we have needed for the past three years.
So if we sign one, do we need five centre backs?

What we really need is Amougou and McManus

I really hope del signs these two, both very impressive stints with us.
A very solid backbone.bearing in mind I think LC could play Left back if required.

Just because we have players coming in on loan who do reasonably well, but that does not mean they will be on DMc's shopping list.
Remember loan players come because they are available at the time for a variety of reasons. Not because DMc set out to get them. Perhaps they are both flawed in some way. Amougou's attitude problems in the past for instance and there were a couple of occasions while with City when he nearly "lost it" on the pitch. With McManus it could be a personal thing with Tony Mowbray, didn't he move McManus on from Celtic?
