Didn't see anything of Stoke, got dropped off at the ground and then whisked straight back out after the game.

Its me done for months mate, well, after Monday. I am at the physio tomorrow, he explained to me that he is going to put this thing on that tightens the muscles around the area(as it is muscle tearing away from the bone) and is then going to show me stretches that I should do every morning and night. I have a feeling he will also tell me to stop.

Lucky you, the place is horrible and the people are horrible. Would love to see them go down, their time will come in the next few years.

I remember this! There's a load of tunes from late 90's early 00's (think it's referred to as Ibiza Trance) that's along the same lines as this...Loads of it is getting sampled by mainstream rnb pop artists now or remixed by more popular dubstep DJ's I got a Gatecrashers album a couple of years ago with all the classics on...Quality stuff when you're drinking before or after a night out!

Most of the music on this thread just made me throw up a little & lose a smidgent of respect for some of you *shakes head*, however I am a bit of a audiophile (you have to be once you've trained your ears for music production!).

One of my lecturers was telling me the other day of his best mate & go to guy when he is producing an artist (his mate is a mastering engineer - basically you record, mix, edit & then master a song/album/ep when making music. You master it for a certain medium - mp3, cd, vinyl & for certain environments/speakers - mp3 player, stereo, car etc) and he was saying that the record companies send him music to master and tell him he has to do it for mp3s coming out of laptop speakers & iPod earphones (not a decent set of headphones that go over your ear). He returns the songs at a worse quality than they were when he received them as the studio copy, but that's what he is instructed to do!

It's definitely one of the main reasons I've not listened to the mainstream properly in years - that and the fact everything is compressed to ****, auto-tuned or pitch corrected using melodyne (it's a much more natural way of correction than the Andares Auto-Tune you hear on the modern r&b songs, not noticeable to the untrained ear but definitely to someone who works/studies in a music studio)

However Mysterious Times was a tune back in the day!
Here's another tune from the past:

I like Sway, as a lyricist he's a bit like Eminem, lots of internal rhyme and enjambement (ending the rhyme/line mid way through the delivery of the sentence). Plus anyone who sites Nas as an inspiration is alright by me!

As for Air, my sister used to absolutely love them, I didn't realise how many of their tunes I recognised without knowing them. I think they're ok, but wouldn't be something that would jump out at me on my ipod!

It's not particularly that I like Air - can't say I've listened to them that much, but the production on that song is really well done - one of our lecturers put it through the Genelec 7.1 system in the main studio for this module I'm doing atm (Advanced Audio Recording Techniques) and it sounded great - a true test of a song today is seeing how it sounds on a decent system/set of monitors.

Unfortunately there are too many bedroom producers nowadays in the industry and the charts, whose recording aesthetic isn't geared towards the best sounds, they tend to overfill their songs with too many effects and like I said before they're sending songs to be mastered for poor quality speakers, this without even touching on the loudness wars that has occurred over the past twenty years (wherein producers boost certain frequencies at the expense of others through compression & equalisation) which gives the listener a higher perceived loudness of the song, but at a loss to the dynamic range of the music - if you want to hear something louder, you should just turn it up!

That Sway song for example - the ethic twenty years ago would be to just have a basic beat, maybe a sample or actual recording (generally jazz, soul or a piano) and although it was a DIY production, there would be nowhere near the amount of effects - the emphasis would be on the flow and style of the rapping.
Not to mention the auto-tuned vocal! Most of the time the person can't really sing so there's no real talent there.
Also well the song sounds to me through my monitors (home studio speakers) that it peaks loads, got my soundcard turned down low & the volume on half on youtube as well. I'd be tempted to get my hands on a wav (lossless version) and put it into Logic, Cubase or Ableton & see what the graphic of the waveform looks like, cos it would probably emphasise my point of overboosted frequencies/loudness wars!

I have to say sorry though as I realise I probably sound like a right pedantic dick in what I've wrote! Before this course I could listen to stuff like that, but having three years of intensively training my ears and studying in the studios, I can no longer switch off so I analyse every track that I hear.
I mean I can't listen to most radio stations for example, because of how highly compressed they are (Radio One being the worst culprit). I will tolerate them when driving around though as some of the DJs are canny.
