No idea, but I think it's going to be a painful few weeks before we hear any news! I'd like Man Utd or Sunderland at home, as I have friends who are supporters of both teams.
I'm undecided tbh, is it best to have a few of the "easier" games early on so we can try and get some points on the board early, or play all the best teams early so we have a relatively easy run in in the last 10 games?
Don't care , just hope when we play MANU , it is wonderful weather , so no visibility problems for THEM !
Take a look at this season's Premiership fixtures and we will probably take the place of whoever comes second from bottom.
On the assumption that we start next season with the confidence and momentum that we started this season with, then I think it's important that we start with some favourable fixtures. Follow this season in hitting the ground running, and use that confidence and momentum in getting a decent number of wins under our belts in the first 10 weeks of the season. I think it's safe to say that we're going to lose most of our games against the top sides whenever we play them, so I'd rather not be losing to them and having that initial confidence and momentum whittled away at the same time before we have had any chance to take advantage of it. Plus, look at Bolton. Playing big boys early on, and getting the inevitable defeats, can take a long time to recover from. You end up going into games against Wigan and Blackburn in October with the whole club on a downer, and you most likely lose to them - when you'd have fancied yourself to beat them in August. Some nice easy starters please.
I'd like to get couple of winnable games first off, get some points on the board and some confidence. Then hit the biggies!!
As they do not tend to re-write the whole fixture list, you usually get a good idea on the future fixture list by replacing the relegated with the promoted. If it is true to form and we take Blackburn's fixtures the opening game of the season will be interesting!?!
Let's start with Chelsea at SMS. What better way to mark our return to the top flight than victory over the European Champions. Anything is possible now, cos we are Southampton, we're premier league.
Ahh, I had come to the wrong conclusion as we nearly always played the Arse away within a 5-6 week window...a favourite away fixture. I'm glad as didn't fancy Chelsea away last game of the season either!
