I love all the Harry fans coming out of the woodwork in the last 12 months like he's some amazing manager. He has had a hugely average career pre-Spurs and with the talent at his disposal this season I would say he's done pretty poorly. I like to quote Rafael Van Der Vaart when discussing Harry's training methods: "He tells us to put on some bibs and run around a bit". Brilliant.
bcc: you're an Inter fan, aren't you? How do you view Woy's time at Inter? As I recall he did reasonably well with an under-strength squad.
A bent cockney c*nt. Money problems at every club he's been at. I dont get the love in on here for him. Edit Redknapp not Roy.
Put it this way, he was asked back by President Moratti for a second spell and they remain friends. He did ok if not spectacularly.
Good choice Harry has only managed in Dorset, Hampshire and London, often with a big chequebook Someone somewhere has a fat dossier on his transfer dealings Hodgson has managed successfully in Italy, Sweden and Switzerland...he has the European t shirt Plus of course like Harry he's from within the M25 - vital for an England manager
Capello-no McLaren-no Eriksson-no Keegan- no Hoddle-yes Venables-yes Taylor- no Robson-no Greenwood-yes Revie-no Ramsey-yes Mercer- no Wninterbottom-no Hardly the cockney mafia.
I was being ironic The Londoncentric media like to undermine non SE managers very early doors in a way they don't do for 'one of their own'
Off topic but I would love to see the realisation of irony hitting thousands of faces when he sings "The past was yours the future is mine, you're all out of time". My favourite band ever but it's the least appropriate reunion ever.
Everybody expects us to do crap because of previous tournaments but I think we could be a surprise package because of it. Am probably in a minority of one on here but Hodgson will be a better manager at international level than Harry, he is more tactically astute, tactics are the most important thing with the best players, we would probably get shredded v the likes of Germany and Spain with Redknapp whereas Hodgson might be able to conjure up a result
Can't wait myself, should be fantastic! Might have a little bet on Lewandovski to be top scorer for Poland, he's very sharp in the Bundesliga this year and is under the radar a bit.
I don't think he's anywhere near as good as Clough was. No. Good post. We need to just enjoy this tournament and do our best. We're nowhere near as **** as people keep saying lately, but we're also unlikely to win it. We don't need to all start crying and pointing fingers in the very likely event that we don't win it. Sorry but what? How is it relevant what talent we have between two set ages? All that matter surely is how good the players are? If you start excluding certain demographics of players you can make any team ****. I agree with this. In a way he's done well at Spurs but he's also got a brilliant squad and loads of money. Spain who we beat with our reserves? Roy's foreign experiences might be useful to us.
It's pretty obvious, isn't it? At top international level it's pretty hard to win a tournament with players outside their peak ages - the young ones are lively but inexperienced, while the old ones are slower, cover less ground, are less able to cope with two games a week and are more injury-prone. Of course you can have a mixture of younger, medium and older players, but if you can't find enough players in the 23-29 range to form the core of the team, you're going to struggle. Look at the ages of any World Cup or Euro-winning teams and you'll see.
Premier likes the older duffers like Lampard though Tuckin, I think where we might fall down is central midfield with the pensioners likely to play there, it's a shame Wilshere hasn't had a full season to progress
