Please keep Nigel Adkins on as manager . He deserves a chance in the pl as much as any of the players . Thank you .
I'm not worried about Nigel getting his chance; I'm worried that, should we overachieve yet again next season, a big club will notice all that he has done for us and swoop. Also, while we're writing to Nicola...thank you for all that you've done. Markus would be proud of the work that you have put in, and the results that you've obtained. If I had authority over such things, your statue would be alongside the roughly fifteen other statues that I'd be ordering constructed right about now.
I am sure its just me being paranoid , But listening to his interview when he said about parting of the ways , he hopes when the time comes it will be done in the proper manner . And also compare the reception he got from NC compared to the reception KD got from NC ........ God what a day .....Brilliant my head is still spinning !!!!!
It wasn't as much of an embrace as last year, but there we go. It's another step in our plan and another brick in the wall so to speak. It did seem a bit odd but I have seen heard 5 or 6 Adkins interviews from today and this is the only one like this. I think they just caught him in the heat of the moment at a rare time when he is emotional. I think it is more a case of Nigel making the point of we are far less likely to be winning the vast majority of our games next season, and that whilst we have experienced great success, it is important to remember where we have come from - and not get above our post. If that eventually plays out, we have to take the "We'll cross that bridge if/when we come to it."
Nigel deserves to be mentioned in the same league as other loved and respected managers of yester year as back to back promotions this one being from the most unpredictable and toughest divisions gives him legendary status and the love and respect of all saints fans i know he has not been here long but boy did he hit the ground running. Also despite his obvious problems with the chairman a mention for Alan Pardew who had done well for us at the begining of this wonderful journey he signed Lambert and by all accounts had to convince Nicola to come on board on the signing andmy word what a good days work that was
Pardew signed 12 of our Championship promotion squad, thats pretty damn good so of course he played a big part as well! Thanks Alan for everything!
Pardew has certainly shown, at Newcastle as well, that he has an eye for a good signing. Adkins was the man who turned that solid foundation into a team of winners though. Both played their part but Adkins' achievements are far greater. Hope he's here for a long time to come!
Have a lot of time for Pardew...a good manager, but he's more of a traditional manager. Nicola has a dream, along the lines of Barcelona (and no, I'm not equating us with Barcelona), where the club fits together as a whole. Nicola said something about appointing people to run the academy and other parts of the club, such as the commercial side, and he would regard them as equals with the first team manager. He said the first team manager runs the team and should act in tandem with the academy staff but wasn't their superior. Wasn't there talk of trouble between Pardew and other coaches? It was probably more complicated than that, but Adkins is more a new type of manager....he now has the chance to demonstrate that it works in the PL.
Not many chairman offer their managers a 4.5 year contract. He will be here for a long, long time. Fran - A lot of the Pardew rumours became facts very quickly and ranged from silly to not very pleasant at all. He did a good job at Southampton and I'm sure he would have taken us up last season, but I suppose it didn't work out between him and Nicola, so the decision was taken early. Also he's in the top three managers of the season in the Prem this year. Looking forward to playing Newcastle next year.
Never liked Pardew even before he came to us. Give him a few seasons and he will be sacked at Newcastle.
I hope he does, he was a good manager but don't think he had the best relationship with Mr Cortese but regardless of that he had an eye for a good signing as mentioned earlier. I for one will give him a clap on his return to St. Marys
Got nothing against Pardew. He's moved on and so have we, both parties for the better. I have no doubt that Nigel will get his chance, starting in the next few weeks when we'll begin bidding for new players to enable us to compete with the best. It'll be a challenge but one Nigel will thrive on. 100% behind him for the whole season.
Been thinking about that handshake [NC & NC] isnt it likely they had already shaken/hugged down in the changing room already? not likely NC would have sat in the stands waiting for the players to come out on the balcony.
Seen nothing wrong with handshake accompanied by a big smile from NC. Cortese hugged Pardew at JPT and look how well that went.
Where have all these Conspiracy Theorists suddenly come from? Why must some people always have something to worry about? Today I am nice and calm and looking forward to a bright future for the Saints so go away. I just want to enjoy the celebrations.
Not sure Pardew was too happy with Les Reed's appointment. Classic DoF situation where the manager thinks of him as a threat because Les Reed managed for a bit at Charlton. Done well though, the DoF is a good thing because chairmen with business brains tend not to know as much about football and running the football side of things as they think they do, and managers work hard enough managing the team without running the club as well. I'm not sure Pardew was too happy about how NC was delegating responsibilities. I remember NC saying something like 'we needed a manager and Pardew was all we could get at short notice' in one of his interviews. Pardew brought in some good players though and laid a strong foundation for NA to work with, so his appointment certainly wasn't a waste of time.
