People go on about the strikers, but it's the midfield that needs surgery, isn't it? This system suits Koren, but, offensively speaking, not many of the others.
And that is why having Cooper and Chester as our starting CBs next season (until Hobbs is back) is a bad idea. Cooper did nothing wrong there. He stuck with his man and went up for the ball at the right time, but because there's no bulk he just bounced off him like he wasn't even there.
Kings a rough diamond isn't he, needs an end product. Can't see Garcia staying on much longer when there's Brady and Stewart on the bench. Cooper and Chester doing OK but we are missing a big lad like Hobbs obviously, probably would be nice if we could get Gerrard back if he's out of contract.
Seems to be a familiar story. We look solid in defence but lack attacking threats up top. We've been second to the ball a fair bit but having said that we've had chances to go ahead. With a bit of tweaking and new additions we should be a very good outfit next season.
But Brady (and recently Stewart) have no end product. Decision making (football brain if you will) appears to be poor. I think I'm right in thinking that we've never had a clean sheet in a game that Cooper has played (started?).
Where did they get this ref from? He's useless and almost begging for West Ham to win... Everytime we go near them, their player falls on the floor and gets a freekick. They're constantly being allowed to push us in the back, how he didn't see the foul on Rosenior and allowed play to go on is beyond me. ...then the stupid decision to allow West Ham a throw-in 'because Dawson had taken it in the wrong place' - What the?!! So, by that ruling, when West Ham tried to take their freekick further forward, shouldn't it have changed over to our freekick? duh! It was even more stupid as Dawson took it further BACK, rather than further forward - how backwards is that decision?!!
Wouldn't it be ace if we came out and snatched one back? Make the commentators swallow hard and notice us. Not that it's likely, really......
Oh and another thing - have Sky positioned the mics furthest away from our supporters? I can faintly hear City fans singing in the background, but can hear West Ham fans mumbling in silence a lot clearer.
Our best chance of that is a Coventry goal. Give the Hammers hope and leave gaps at the back for us to exploit (by which I mean get 10 yards of space behind their backline and then try an audacious 70-yard pass back to Mannone)
Had a bit of a chuckle then when the commentator described King as a bit of an 'unpolished diamond' the fella copying my script on here! Would have taken Garcia off rather than King who needs the experience.
Coventry now have 6 players who are 20 or under on the pitch, with 4 of them being in their U18s this season.
