Now this maybe controversial but here goes. I don't think Sess' is being played in ther right position (either that or he is lacking the correct strike partner). From what I've seen Sess' likes to play from deep. He never gets on the shoulder of the last defender and he doesn't score enough. So for me should he be playing as a striker or taking the role of one? No in my opinion. Neither do I think he is a winger. I would play him central midfield as I think Sess' would give us better ball retention, he can make a goal scoring pass. Defensively this could leave us wide open. So Do we need to change our system to get the very best out of Sess'. Another player I would move position would be Larrson. For me he lacks the pace to be an out and out winger. I was worried about Larrson before I'd found out about his hernia as he seemed to struggle to kick a ball. I would still be tempted to move Larrson inside. Perhaps we could look to play a 4-2-3-1 type system? Using Larrson and Catts as holding midfielders. Sess' with a free role in front of them Mclean to the left of Sess' Perhaps Campbell to the right. With a New shiney striker up front. Just throwning around some alternatives? Maybe that would make us too narrow? Any thoughts?
"Do we build a team around Sess' or build a team from his sale?" Doesn't that depend on whether we actually sell him?
It's a great question. We'd need to sell him for £20 million plus to spark a debate, of course. I'd be gutted if we sold him, even for £30million, I know he ain't a £30million player, but to us, how do we replace a player like that?? We can't buy a £30million player, even if we have the money, as a £30million player will go to a bigger club. Hence, we must keep Sess.
His value is the cost of an equally talented replacement -that has to make him worth at least 20 million. Right on the money
Well MON is now on record saying he wants to keep our best players so it would be a kick in the teeth for him if we sold Sess, bastard of a question mind.
If we sell our best players we will NEVER improve our team...or have the successful team we all wish for
Do people think Sess' is being used to his full potential in his current position though? Would anybody else try him cm?
Sort of player we have to keep, but there are bargains to be had for sure. I want him to stay though. Liverpool had Torres, who, in his pomp, was as good as any in the Prem. Yes, they got £50M for him, but look what they spent it on. Getting big bucks for Sess won't mean his replacement(s) will work out as well.
David Moyes had a look at Sessegnon in 2010, It would be interesting to see how he would fair at Everton, with Pienar and Sessegnon in midfield, Everton could be decent on the counter.
I think the fact we got Sess for £6million, and you lot got Cabaye for £5.5million & HBA for £5million has made people look at the French league for bargains, but the clubs are being a bit more savvy, hence Montpellier looking for £20million , or thereabouts for Giroud & Belhanda.
