Perhaps I should post a link to this thread on the Col Who board, I think we would all value Mikey's opinion on this
God! It must be true! It's in the Mail now! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-Lambert-replace-Alex-McLeish-end-season.html
Just out of interest, what did you think of the names mentioned as your potential replacements? I expect that Milky would be your first choice but is there anybody that they didn't mention that would take your fancy?
The players Lambert has here compared to players like Ireland at Aston Villa would hopefully keep him with us.
malky has openly stated his desire to manage norwich. i think when lambert leaves in ten years time, he'll be a shoe-in
malky would be good ANother up and coming manager, Poyet (slightly different personality to PL!) maybe as superman says it's a few years away
The Mail says that Chris Hughton would also be a contender, how the fcuk do they know that? It's pretty obvious that McCleish is getting the bullet whatever happens between now and the end of the season. The papers are just guessing who would be his replacement and PL fits the bill, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to work that out FFS.
Villa would probably want Lambert but why leave the Premier League and Norwich for a club who are heading for the Championship or could ruin his reputation.
To be honest if Villa did get relegated they'd be in the same/worse position than Birmingham so why would Lambert leave for Villa if they're a bigger club then Hughton leave same size Birmingham for little old Naarrwich? Don't think Hughton would be the right manager for us anyway if Lambert did leave anyway.
Mcleish goes to Birmingham Hughton goes to villa And the midlands managerial merry go round continues lol
PL knows he's onto something you don't get very often in football. Expect him to ride us out for a while yet I'd say... Not least for the insult that the tabloids have brendan rodgers for chelsea, while PL is only worthy of a villa.
The problem is, with villa there fans expectations will be a lot higher than ours. I also dont think there fans would not take to his rotating system to keep the squad happy. He also wouldnt get as much freedom as he does here, as in the board backs him 100%, they will give him the funds for transfers obviously within our budget etc... At villa, lerner seems to take to much control over everything and doesnt seem to back his manager ie. if we were to sell pilkington to liverpool for 15mil he would get that money to re invest, at villa he wouldnt see a penny! And 1 final thing, i reckon "The Gaffer" would give him a word of huge caution before anything happened! Aston Villa are the next big club to fall i reckon, if not this season then certainly next year!
The views of a realistic Villa fan! http://www.7500toholte.com/2012/4/27/2981396/paul-lambert-rumour-aston-villa?
Totally agree - especially the first paragraph and I also reckon he would give MON a call before 'jumping from the frying pan into the fire'!!!! I'm hoping that we can keep most of our squad together and I'd sooner see Pilkington in Yellow and Green next season than a few more £M for PL to try aand find a replacement.
