This argument annoys me. The 'sportstalk' programme IS NOT a rugby show, i tune in every night and during the football season it is taken up by a lot of Hull City content and the majority of the callers on the show are on to talk about city. The rugby season is in full flow, the football season is coming to an end, what do people expect. Yes the presenters, especially a mister lloyd can be irritating but this rubbish that it is a rugby show is nonsense. Matt Dean and Mike White do a good job, just get rid of lloyd and the show will see a marked improvement.
What happens to Lloyd now, surely he can't stay on just to do one show on a Friday night? (he said, optimistically)
Hopefully he will be stuck were the least amount of people can hear him, commentating on the east hull rugby team team and not Hull FC that way i dont have to listen to his drivel whilst listening to the rugby!!
Some nights I did actually like listening to it, depends on the guests. I'm not particularly interested in rugby so tend to listen more when they've got a football guest presenter on. Last night was decent as they had Lee Turnbull on who seems pretty knowledgeable to me. Think he did some scouting for Scunny and unearthed some of their better players. Despite his Scunny connection he always seemed unbiased and interesting to listen to. Hope they use him on the Friday show as he definitely seems to be one of their better football guest presenters.
Think he might get a job on Bid TV, or one of the other shopping channels, to make the dick heads they already employ seem highly professional.
Totally agree - hate Calendar always have - so much weesie bias its unreal. Look North and Peter Levy is better always preferred the Beeb anyway) but as other have said listening to stuff about the foreign influx in Boston and about other 'major centres' of population south of the Humber is tedious. Need a North Bank BBC taking in Hull York & Scarbrough. Local Radio must be the worst its ever been here - RH (Gollum & Matt Dean ffs) KCFM (Lincs FM owned with 80's pop and no Alex Burgess) Depressing...
When Lloyd is in charge the rugby bias is ridiculous, the clueless **** actually said ahead of last week game that the were concentrating on rugby, as there were no important football matches on at the weekend. If they employed someone with the sole intention of pissing off the majority of sports fans in the area, they couldn't find anyone better than Lloyd.
I know that, i even said that in my post. Get rid of him then a sort of sense will be resumed. But that doesnt make the progamme inatly rubbish as he isnt always presenting! But to say that EVERY episode is rugby based is just untrue!
So the rumour of it ending was in-correct. Cut back to fridays only during the summer with the football season ending. It will return in full in August apparantly.
When Burnsy was doing it, there was a mix of both, but with Lloyd on the bias is ridiculous and that's why nobody's listening and they're cutting the show. I even spoke to the manager editor at Blunderside and he refused to accept there's an issue with Lloyd, he said... 'I'm afraid the audience figures don't back your theory about listening trends, but thank you for your thoughts on them. I'm sorry you feel I'm complacent, but you are wrong to assume I don't care about our audiences - they are very much at the centre of what we do here every day.' Well Mr Pattern, if your audience figures are so good, why the **** have you just pulled the show for most of the week?
It's no secret I like rugby just as much as Football, but Gollum can **** off, his bias not just towards rugby, but Rovers is incredible, I listened for a bit on Monday and you could almost hear the happiness in his voice the FC hadn't got a transfer fee for Luke Briscoe off Leeds. Prick!
Get rid of Lloyd ? thats heresy of the highest order,, G is the rugby producer who knows it all. On 2nd thoughts Mike White is good enough with his rugby knowledge to take over.
It use to be very popular even up to last year but for whatever reason the listeners have been turning off for a long time now . Plus i was only passing on what was told to me by someone who works at humberside .Also been told by same person that the once a week show is only to see if its needed if the listeners dont tune in it will be axed nothing to do with football season finishing.
Who knows whats going to happen . Maybe a change in format is needed or presenters changed around or one day football guests the next day rugby guests or just bring burnsy back as sports editor.
