    Yeah, just read this on twitter...As you said, about time!

    Gutted I can't get to the game, would've loved to have been there for so many reasons...

    Top move by the club as well, part of me still thinks 'what is this latest smoke screen gunna hide' but at the same time, this is genuinely a great thing and I'm dissapointed I feel so suspicious!

    Bobby Robson is a legend of the game and a wonderful ambassador for the North East wherever his travels have taken him, not to mention pulling us out of the mire that Dalglish and Gullit had us in.

    However...

    I'll probably get flamed for this but Ashley's tenure has made me very cynical - I see this as a crude PR stunt tbh. Like Mike Ashley could give a flying **** about our history, he's proved that he doesn't.

    Bout bloody time he got a statute. One of the greatest Managers in the game and a top bloke by all accounts. Maybe the City Council should follow suit and rename St James Boulevard "Sir Bobby Robson" boulevard?

    Sir Bobby was a gentleman and as honest as the day is long.

    He was, however, very hurt and shocked with his departure from NUFC as the season the team struggled under him was barely started and he knew what he wanted to right everything.

    Shepherd buckled under some crowd pressure and panicked into replacing Sir Bobby. Diplomatically Sir Bobby said the Chairman did what he thought was best for the club.

    When you stand in front of the statue I hope that you are all grateful you had him. He would love that as he was with the one at Ipswich.
