If it had been a team from the Welsh or Irish leagues who held on to go through against Barcelona, they'd have been well worth the gushing plaudits in this morning's papers. However the multi-millionaires at Chelsea can hardly claim plucky underdog status. They have one of the most expensively assembled squads in Europe, and should be ashamed that they went through with such a backs-to-the-wall performance. They were thoroughly outclassed in both legs and were very lucky to go through.
........And hopefully they'll be thoroughly outclassed in the final by either Bayern or Real but will still be crowned champions of Europe
English footballers are idiots, it's one reason that has kept England from performing at the top level. They need to keep a level head and not get sent off for ridiculous reasons e.g. Beckham v Argentina.
trawling back through threads to revive a finished argument he was right about the odds though, and would've been right if not for a slice of luck
What slice of luck? That Barcelona can't find the back of the net or defend? The missed penalty wouldn't have made a difference.
Not really, he said come back next week, I said I would so I did. Not trawling at all, I just came back on here tonight, simple really. Bit of humour is all, and he was wrong, end of story. Yes you're right, he would have been right had Chelsea not lucked out and scored three times over the tie.
