I think all yellow cards should be resindid and start afresh once you reach the final, i don't think it's fair to the team,it's supporter's or the general football fans, it's the biggest club tournament in the world and every body wants too see the best players from both teams in the final. could you imagine watching a final with Barca without Messi or Real without Ronaldo !!! it just wouldnt be the same, ok a straight red i can understand but accumulation of yellow cards through out the whole tournament just seems unfair to me. just my unbiased opinion
Sorry I do not agree. The scope is there to appeal if the card was wrongly given and get the ban part removed. Yellow and red cards are used because the game is not a gentleman's one. No honest Joes about. Professional players are cynical and are coached to be so. The cards try to ameliorate the inbuilt desire to cheat or 'be professional' as it is euphemistically called. As it is certain player ride and take advantage of the present system. For what cards are given for or wrong bookings is an entirely different matter and should be debated, reviewed and refined constantly. Can you imagine a semi-final where the players knew that they had at least one get out of jail card to play? I just know given such an opportunity they'd all take it to a man.
I can see your point, but yellow cards are to discourage cheating and there needs to be a penalty. I think an amnesty with the opposition might work though: If the other club had three suspensions they could have those postponed to the next match and the most recent three fro Chelsea could also play?
I didn't realise yellow cards could be appealed? Certainly they can't in the prem but the point I'd like to make is that to ban someone after 2 yellow cards is just wrong in this day & age when cards are given out for sneezing on opponents. Then again, I doubt we'd be too disappointed if either Bayern or Real had four players missing from the final because of it. Apparently, Bayern have seven players on yellow cards.
Philipp Lahm, Holger Badstuber, David Alaba, Jerome Boateng, Toni Kroos, Luiz Gustavo and Thomas Muller are all on yellows.
It's possible mate, there's always war when those two play! Bayern to go through on pens with plenty of yellows
100%. There is scope for abuse of course but take Ivan last night, Fabregas dives and wins a penalty...no action. Ivan moans about it, gets booked and misses the biggest game of his career. There should be justice in sport, where is it here?!?!?
Any Real players on yellows?? If not, hope Ronaldo, Ozil, Benzema, Di Maria and Higuain all get sent off!!
As I said the whys and wherefores as to how someone gets booked is a different matter from why the system is in place. Yellow cards and red ones can be taken away and any ban removed, but that doesn't help you during the match any alleged offence took place. You run the risk to of having a ban increased if you appeal and the panel agrees with the original finding. If you have clear cut video evidence post match that you were innocent of the offence, then the ban part if incurred can be rescinded. This is not something I'd advise any of the Chelsea players from last night to do. Ivanovic's card is the most disappointing because it was for dissent.
How about you stop being a sour bitter little bellend trying to cause arguments? Nobody invited you here.
I think one should be able to appeal yellow cards so they could be overturned. They shouldn't reset for the final. I believe Lahm and the rest of Bayerns back four and Alonso and Ramos are one card away from suspension...
It's going to be **** for UEFA if there are say 11 first team players banned. Two weakened teams in the CL final, great!
FIFA introduced a rule where players booked in semis of the world cup could still play in the final. Take note Uefa?
Agree with Drogs, biggest club championship in the world devalued possibly! The rule about not being able to appeal yellow cards isn't so bad in the prem cos of the amount of bookings required for a ban but to have a final with possibly eleven players missing due to suspension is absurd.
I was for the rule of suspending players until today. It is a bit of a joke that the ref tonight is so much less strict than your ref. So they arent picking up yellows because their ref is more sensible.
I dont think yellows should be rescinded, but I do think yellows are dished out so frequently for " soft" offences, that refs should be told to be a lot more tolerant of the rough and tumble that goes with contact sport!
