We all know Jonas possesses great dribbling ability, can finish quite well and strike a ball well. We all know how much he likes to make a run forward and threaten.

How great is it that he's accepted this new role in the team without any complaints?

He's by default an attacking midfielder/winger, but has reformed himself into a defensive midfielder. He has taken on a lot of responsibility and turned up and worked his testicles off every week, no questions asked.

He's probably one of the most technical players we have. No you wont see him skin a lot of players like Ben Arfa does on regular occasions, or score very often, but the bloke has defensive qualities and attacking qualities of good premier league standard.

He can tackle, he can see where danger may occur, take quick action and has saved our arses many times with tackles and interceptions. He can also provide a good quality ball across the ground, and has set up quite a few chances, and has also managed to score 3 top quality goals this season, despite being a very deep position.

If we look back at all the goals he's scored this season, they've all be top class. Goal against Wolves, skinned 3 players, finished fantastically in the bottom corner with his weak foot. Against Blackburn, great run into the box, lovely little drink over the keeper. And a beautiful long shot against Wolves at home. All his goals are top quality.

He's technical not just in the usual sense like Ben Arfa with all his skills and attacking capabilities, but because he's basically IMO pretty much the complete midfielder. Can draw defenders out, beat players, pass the ball well, score the odd goal, tackle, and take care of a danger at the back, has great stamina and good pace.

He's a better finisher than most people would think he is. Imagine how hard it must be for him, knowing he has the ability to score and get his name on the score sheet, to accept high defensive responsibilities and work his nuts off only to see others score goals. I know he's most likely just really happy that the team is doing well, and most likely gets praised a lot by Pardew, but you don't hear a lot of other fans talk about Jonas Gutierrez, probably the hardest working player at the club, it's mainly the players doing the skills and scoring the goals.

Fantastic player, top bloke, model professional.

I think Jonas is one of the most important members in our team, although he isn't attacking as much it's great to have a player in cm that isn't afraid to have to ball and can hold it up well. Also the fact that he can draw a fall in tight spots is a good asset.

Have to agree on him being a model pro. The graft he gets through in a game is second to none and I think him and Tiote make a formidible defensive partnership.
I hope he remains with us until he retires.
