Sorry but no! It's not just the fee it's the wages to go with it, do you think it will be within what is being paid now ? It will double at least, so that means the other players will be looking for a substantial raise. There are other players that could fit the bill.
While it'll probably be true he'd be looking at bigger wages than most of, if not all the Swans players, I don't think he'd ask for astronomical amounts of money. He knows the Swans aren't loaded, and going from Reading to Hoffenheim I don't see his wages being absolutely massive. What do we reckon would be fair to pay him? I'd say if he plays like that over an entire season, you could justify having paid him 25kpw given today's market.
I would say he should be the highest paid along with a few others, but not to break the bank on this £25k - £30k a week would be the maximum. Trouble is £8m players want a hell of a lot more and are offered about £50k a week or so. Out of our budget I think.
As has been said though, if he doesn't want to play for the Swans sod him! 25kpw is a big, big wage no matter who you are, and if he likes it that much here he'll sign on!
whatever we do we must not break our wage policy for anyone, siggs says he wants to stay then he know the rules and he has to accept that, £25,000/week is a fantastic offer plus bonuses plus end of season bonus that will bring his overall wage around the £30-35k/week, If he wants more than that then the swans is not the club for him. he knows the style we play suits him best and if he chases the money then he could find himself not playing much 1st team football .....good luck to him whatever happens and i thank him for his goals that went massively towards keeping us up....
What happens if we pay huge amounts to get Sig , pay him big wages & he's already shown us his best & tails off . 8 million & big wages is a big decision to make on a dozen games . Got two glasses on the Siguation , ones half full & the other ..... !
Chance you take with any player, Breezy. At least we know that Siggy fits our system. We could sign a player, any player, who just couldn't cut it with us. At least we know Siggy can.
If we want to keep Siggy, then when the bidding war starts it is likely to be closer to £8.5 Million, by the time Malaga up the stakes!.................
Is this the same Dai that wanted us to break the bank last season to buy promotion?!! Only joking my little nest of vipers and agree with your sentiments re 'good luck to him whatever happens'. Very similar situation to last season; Borini helped get us up, Sigi has helped keep us up - no sour grapes from me if he decides to cash in on his talent - but would sell my left testicle to have him with us next season!!!
Hmmmm. Cartoon head, I will purchase your left testicle if he stays please. They are a delicasy is the far east so I can make a nice profit here me thinks.
All this talk about Sig going for anything approachin 5-7 million is wishful thinking i'm afraid. If you look at the track record of PL clubs spending on goal scoring midfielders and the over-inflated prices associated with the English game then it's hard to imagine him leaving Hoffenheim for anything less than 10-12 million. Watch this space.
