So Geordies, Ashley and Pardew - thoughts....

  1. Personally, I think if Newcastle make the CL then Pardew is manager of the year, and Mike Ashley shoul dbe given a huge amount of credit for bringing him in and pulling off the greatest transfer dealing ever seen in England. £35m for Carroll, and you bring in Ba, Cabaye, Cisse, et al and still have some cash left over.

What say you - especially the guys who doubted Pardew and wanted Ashley out... have you changed your minds?

I hope you make it, in 4th of course, not 3rd (!).

Would actually be good to see Newcastle in the CL.

I've changed my mind. ****ing love Pards.

I'm very grateful for what Ashley has done. HOWEVER, I still don't 100% trust the guy, and probably never will.

If the ****ing Swansea manager gets it over Pardew for that over hyped Swanselona style football, then it will be a disgrace, but it wouldn't surprise me.

How on earth there's no Newcastle players in the PFA player of the year thing is beyond me.

Well I know weve had a bad few years but the clubs really going in the right direction now. If MA doesn't sell Cisse, BA, Cabaye, Ben Arfa and Tiote I'll be very surprised. I think we need 7 points to get 4th so it's possible we could pull off the story of the season I think.

    Cheers

The club as a whole have done exceedingly well. The players have performed perfectly and given us a lot of pleasure, MA and Pards have obviously worked well together and all is honey and roses at the moment.

Adkins of Southampton will get the manager of the year award. What he's done is bloody incredible.

Never understood why some fans were so against Pardew. I didn't want Hughton out but when Pardew was appointed I though we might as well see how he'd do. He's definitely exceeded any expectations I had... by far, like, really far!

  10. For Newcastle it's now about belief. You are not over achieving. You only need look at the squad to know that, but the difference between the clubs that stay at the top is often down to expectation and mindset.

    Agreed!

I was pissed off at other fans that said that our squad was **** and once our injuries started, that would be the end to our season.

The only reason people thought our first team was good but overall squad was poor, was because people didn't even look at the players we had outside our starting 11.

Players like Guthrie, Ryan Taylor and Perch, all versatile and have come in and done a fantastic job and has been key to our success.

I can't think of any other clubs whose owners I'd take in preference to Fat Mike. We now have a club that is on the brink of Champions League, virtually self-sufficient and doesn't have to go cap in hand to the banks every year. Unbelievable. Its all very well to cite teams like Chelski with Abramovich's zillions being poured in, but where's the real pleasure in that? And where will they be when the Russian gets bored and leaves? Exactly the same with Man City and their arab millions.

Pardew has gone way up in my (and I suspect most people's) estimations since he arrived here. I'll always miss and be grateful to Chris Hughton, but you have to say, on current evidence, signing up Pardew was a great move for us.

Even if we end up 6th, this has been a fantastic season for us. Full credit to everyone involved in making it happen.

I'm not sure enough people appreciated just how much you improved your squad by shipping out Nolan & Barton and signing players like Cabaye & Ben Arfa. You've been a little lucky with injuries, but I think your season is a just reward for the improvements made since Pardew came in.

How can you say we've been lucky with injuries? We have had numerous people out injured including our 1st choice Centre back, as well as plenty of others. The difference is the players who have come in for them have played above and beyond our wildest expectations. Take a bow Guthrie,Taylor, Perch, Williamson & Shola.
Great team spirit installed by Alan Pardew where I think everyone feels wanted and valued.

Haven't been lucky with injuries. At the start of the season we had 3 CBs (one was injured) then after about 10 games Saylor gets injured leaving 1 CB who then gets injured! We had to play 4 RBs against Norwich. The thing is that when Williamson or Colo have been out, Perch has come in and done just as well.

In midfield Cabaye and Tiote have both played some and missed some (Tiote's only played 5 games since the start of the year). Marveaux got a long term injury just as he was looking to get his chance in the first XI. And HBA's been coming back from over a year out.

Up front, although Ba's not been injured, we did lose him to the ACN for 3 or 4 games but we actually went up the table without him.

We've also topped the injury table for the last few weeks but the players ad Pardew just get on with it. The fact is regardless of injuries we've been consistent. It's had nothing to do with luck. Just hard work and correct decisions from those at the club. It's about time the teams we're battling with (and currently beating) for 4th realised that and had a bit of decorum

Edit: Soz thought it was a sours fan
