    Only 5 years?

****ing pathetic. If he's been found guilty of rape and there's great evidence, then he should be put away 20 years with no chance of parole.

That person he raped will carry that scar around with her for the rest of her life. He gets off with a 5 year spell in the slammer, most likely get out early.

It looks like a pretty tricky case as she can't remember any of the night. Who knows what really happened, the only certain thing is that his football career is over.

Got to say when I heard them going through the case on Sky Sports last night, I would have said he was innocent, so there is probably more to this than what has been reported. 5 years isn't enough he did it, however law is a very odd thing when it comes to sentencing.

Who knows what happened, if she was in that bad of a state then he shouldn't have had sex with her...however she shouldn't have allowed herself to get that bad. It's quite a tricky call I'd say but we haven't heard all the evidence.

Its a strange thing rape, in any other crime the jury would have said guilty and we would all be shouting scum, buts it rape, the jury, after hearing the evidence say guilty and we hear, well she was drunk, its a tricky case, are we looking for excuses? When I say we I mean .......

I think in some cases (especially when alcohol is involved) rape can be one of the hardest cases to judge.

No comment to make on the did he/didn't he as we are only getting a small section of the story there. I assume there must have been some pretty damning evidence for a guilty verdict to be passed.

I know one thing though, a convicted rapist footballer will be in for an interesting time in the clink!

After reading into this, I reckon there isn't sufficient evidence for sentencing.

She couldn't remember going to the hotel and she woke up with her clothes on the floor. She'd been drinking and was basically mortally drunk.

Don't understand how she could even file a complain for rape never mind the bloke getting sentenced for it. If you wake up after a nights drinking with your clothes on the floor it means you can't remember having a shag, not that you've been raped.

This means every lass that gets pissed on a night out can file rape claims to any man that takes her to a hotel and shags her.

In my opinion it's a typical modern day bullshit case. A poor sweetheart claiming she's been abused by two big nasty men, and there's no way this precious thing could be lying.... the same precious thing that likes to get mortal on nights out.

even though a jury heard all the evidence and found him guilty Tash still knows best.

If its your wife/daughter/mother/sister/girlfriend and she gets drunk I assume its fine for me to screw her then, would that be OK, does she get what she deserves?

Wouldn't be particularly quick to come to that conclusion. For one thing, we haven't seen the evidence. Newspaper reports are almost never an acurate reflection of the body of evidence befroe the court - - usually it is just one or two sentences that makes good copy.

The other reason is that rape convictions are extremely difficult to obtain. These lads were judged by 12 of their peers having the benefit of excellent defence barristers. If the jury was satisfied, people who weren't there shoudl be slow to second guess

the other guy got off because she got in a taxi with him, was talking to him and accompanied him to the hotel room. That sounds like consent to me. Being passed out on a hotel bed hammered and having someone else climb on top of you doesn't sound like consent to me...
