I know it's not amazing like a helicoptor but did my eyes deceive me or is there now a gym in a shop down Newland Ave ? Well I say gym but it's more like a shop with a few weight benches in there
Been there at least a couple of months and I,m fairly sure I spotted some gadger cycling away in there whilst watching life go by . I didn't bother looking up at the helicopter last night as I thought it was the rozzers tracking fans around the stadium . Oddest thing I've seen being Billy Bremners statue at Bellend Road , it had the kit painted white making him look quite African given the dark metal base . Sure they'd coloured his fizzog with red lips "bit of a Tim Rice Rocky Horror " theme to it and painted his hair a funny orange colour. I honestly thought the boy had been vandalised and wondered how somebody had managed getting time enough to disfigure him to that extent and not get caught .
Haha, I never see anyone in there when I go past. I don't think those exercise bikes are well placed, no one wants to exercise with a bus full of people looking at them
I know, it's a shocking idea. That place won't be open by the end of the year.We all have ideas on which kind of business we'd start if we could, but how daft do you to be to think that people will want to work out in a shop window ?
There is complimentary coffee etc available, but you pour it yourself. You can get all your protein shakes and all that at the counter, but there is no shop as such. Used to be a juice bar, but they racked up loads of debt apparently and sodded off, never to be seen again.
Most gyms I've seen have people working out right next to massive great panel windows overlooking the car park, a shop window is probably more private than that. I wonder if it's had any subsidies on a "get Hull fit" basis though. If there's people down there who can't afford a gym membership elsewhere, subsidised membershipps might mean it actually has enough custom to keep it going. It might be worth looking at it as a business once the uni is back up and running from Easter. (If I'd been put into the business to keep it ging I'd definitely be targetting the Freshers fayre in September with student deals). Throw in some of those apprenticeships that Tesco and other big companies have been taking the piss with (or student placements for suitable courses) and other than rent you cut the costs right down.
