Not that it helps us, but wigan's last few results haven't been too bad have they, Liverpool, Man Utd, Us and last night Arsenal, and they were robbed at Chelsea.

This is top 4 form and it means we can wave goodbye to Rodellega (again)

    Hey ho

They have played well most of the season, had a ridiculous amount of shots, just none of them go in! I haven't got any stats to back this up, but at a guess I'd say we've got one of the best conversion rates in the league (because we only have about 3 shots a match) and Wigan have one of the worst (they seem to shoot as much as Man City and all the big boys, but virtually never put any away.) Law of averages says some of them have got to go in at some point!

I wouldn't mind Wigan staying up, I'd much prefer to see Q.P.R go down, mainly because they're allegedly paying Barton £100,000 a week. Let's see who wants to take him off them for that much.

I think if Wigan were to go down though, I'd prefer Victor Moses over Rodellega. More of a winger, but a good striker too.

Wigan are doing really well, as Martinez said ... we've just not scored the goals I hope they do suvive they deserve too after three fantastic results.

Not fussed as to who goes down and who stays up tbh guys. I also think Rodda's and or Moses may be looked at by cough cough better clubs than Stoke?

QPR, Wolves and Blackburn and Bolton have some very good players even though they are down there and in trouble.

I think QPR might go now after Wigan's win last night... Wolves are certs and I hope Bolton or B/Rovers go down NOT Wigan.

Barton is on HOW MUCH a week? no thanks!!

  5. My current view is that Wolves, Blackburn and QPR will go down. It may of course all change after this week's games!! Wigan really deserve to stay up having won against Liverpool, Man Utd and ArseNIL. Cruelly denied against Chelsea.

In terms of players possibly being available I would like to see Jarvis come our way as both Matty and Pennant have not been effective this season.

At full back could TP have a word with SAF and take Fabio. Some posts on the Oatcake suggest that he can not defend, I am not of that opinion and really thought watching Man Utd play on Sunday was that he acquitted himself well. At left back well let us hope on the scouting mission thsi weekend TP looked at some potential targets!

Last but not least MIDFIELD. I want to see WP there with 2 wingers and a creative player.

With regard the stats I was at a meeting last night of the Southern supporters club and it was recommended that we write to TP to congratulate him on an 'entertaining season.' That letter is being sent as 'succesful' season as by no means can you call it entertaining with the lowest number of shots of any side in the EPL. The number of goals scored is also a concern: goals for 31 ?
We must up this ratio next year and have more goals from midfield and perhaps a goal or two from fullbacks!

Wigan have been fantastic of late, but have been playing pretty good football all season so as Pistol said it was the law of averages that results would come at some point. For me, I want B'Burn and QPR to go down for whatbthey did to Sam and Warnock.

With regards to the southern supporters club; I take it they dont get to see many Stoke games then?

  7. Smithers,

We in the South do get to see plentyof games!

Of the 6 of us at the commitee meeting last night, all are season ticket holders! 2 that were missing, are also season ticket holders and although I am not among them, most go to all away games as well. We currently have 237 members and have been in existence since 1968. If you like I will send on the latest newsletter that is due in the next week or so. I also understand we will have a representative on the Supporters Council

The vast majority have links to Stoke-on-Trent as I do as my Dad grew up in Wolstanton, Hassam Parade.

I hope you appreciate from most of my comments posted that it can be seen that I do get to games.

    Hope that answers the question

    Cheers

From your'e numerous posts in the past.. we all know you get to see most of Stoke's games, home and away.
Which to be fair is probably more than me mate.. Only missed the one home game this season Liverpool my daughter's wedding day.

And this weekend will be only my 2nd away game this season, the other was Sunderland. Let's hope for a decent performance at least and who knows? Maybe nick a pt which would make my weekend.

    Re the newsletter Cris,
I would be interested in reading that newsletter if you can post it Cris.

Jose, I am afraid to say that it was me that translated 'the twat in the hat' into Spanish and had it as my avatar for a while.

After Gary Speed's suicide I erased it all!!

I have to give full credit to Nik for that one!

Look, I acknowledge it was a slight over reaction, but it was a joke for christ sake! I know Tender comes on here and posts constructivly and I am fully aware he is a committed fan who travels to alot of games from a fair distance!

  14. Hi Smithers

Apologies if I took your comments the wrong way and overreacted. We as a supporters club annually send a letter to the club to ensure they know we are still around. It is PR really and in the past with 25 and 40 year anniversaries both times we have met players and TP before a match. The first was the night before we played Orient in the old Division 2 game when we were on a run of 20+ games without defeat. The second occasion was at Selsdon Park Hotel prior to penultimate game of the season at Palace in the year when Pullis returned? to keep us in Division 1 by beating Reading in the last game of the season. Both events were appreciated by the supporters club and we hope at some stage in the future to do the same thing again. I remember monopolising Crossley as I think he played a big role do with keeping us up that year.

As I think you and all know I am of the camp that I think TP has done a great job getting us where we are today but I hope sooner rather than later, Coates gets somebody in that can take us a further step of 'evolving' and playing some entertaining football on a consistent basis.

No worries, I shouldn't have bitten like that.

All joking apart I think its great that there are groups of long standing fans who still operate in a proffesional manner and support the club as a proffessional unit. It also makes sence to gain as much PR in retrun for all the years support.

I've said a few times I'd like Jarvis, but as Potts said about Rodellega and Moses, would probably have bigger clubs sniffing around, but he (Jarvis) hasn't been great this season, so who knows. We're increasingly seen as a club on the up, and managed to land Crouchy, so who knows what else is possible.

I think those three will go down too, and those are the ones I want down, for how they've all treated their (ex)managers and QPR for paying out daft wages to the likes of JB and SWP.
I feel sorry for Terry Conner at Wolves, I lost sympathy for the club after the got rid of MM, and how they handled appointing a new manager, but TC seems like a sound guy, but they made him look stupid by going for every out of work manager they could find before appointing him. I hope he gets a fair crack in the Championship, because Moxey and co have treated him like a right twat, and he hasn't deserved it.

BTW I was joking about Rodellega, only because we have been 'after' him in every transfer window since 1897 !!

Jarvis from Wolves?? Looked their best player(when we played them IMO) by a country mile.. I would not complain if T.P. brought him in.

Just a thought we do need cover for Etherington.

What about O'Hara while we're at it? Think he's injured at the moment but he's better than most of our current midfielders too! I'm almost certain that T.P. asked about a loan move for him before he left Spurs.. and he can score goals and create for others. Attacking midfielder <ok>
