    I don't think either is particularly creative. It was interesting watching last night that as soon as Arsenal looked to find a way through and Song pushed on, Wenger immediately put him to centre back and put Ox in the middle. I think there are quite big differences between the two being honest. They can both play the holding role (I think Tiote is better at it) but have very different secondary roles. Tiote slips comfortably into central midfield whereas I think Song looks clumsy there. However he can play centre back quite effectively.

    I think Tiote is a much better passer of the ball in general I have to say. For me Tiote only has two weaknesses. He does get caught in possession at times, and of course he does get loads of bookings.

    Tiote gets caught in possession when over playing it at times, but most of the time he keeps a hold of the ball through his balance, agility and dribbling ability.

    Indeed but its an undoubted weakness in his game (its improving though). I saw some stats recently which backed it up. It was comparing all the top central midfielders in the league and he had the worst of them for being dispossessed. Now I'm not a lover of stats because football is played on a pitch not in books, but that one is hard to get away from.

    When he's in form he doesn't really get dispossessed. He's just not been able to get into form this season. He's been playing with knocks whenever he's played, he should be left out of the squad for the rest of the season IMO.

    He needs time to heal properly.

    The stats suggest differently. He can heal in ther summer too. We need him now.

    As I said the dispossession stats (based on last two seasons or maybe just last season) suggest he does lose the ball more than the other top midfielders in the league. Of course what you don't see in the stats is that is far more effective than many of them in other areas, which in my book make up for it. He is also at an age and position where he is yet to hit his peak. He is only in his 2nd season in the league too.

    Its like Krul with his kicking, all players have areas they need to improve. You just always hope its a trainable weakness. You can't put desire and fire in someones belly. It is difficult to teach someone to be more disciplined. That has to come from within (I'm thinking of Nile here). Tiote and Krul are already PL heavyweights for me, so I think its encouraging that they have things to work on. You never stop learning and with all the support they have around them now, nothing is missed. The most positive aspect is they want to learn and have first class attitudes.

    Hmmm. He does lose the ball at times, but most of the time it's because he's pressured by numerous opponents.

    He normally keeps the ball well. He's become a lot smarter in the way he plays also. He covers players that advance out of position, cuts out passes around the box, makes really precise standing tackles in vital areas.

    I used to cringe when seeing Tiote around the box because I thought he'd slam straight into someone and give away a pen, but he's actually very precise with his tackling now.

    His stand tackling is great.

    Anyways, he knows when he can afford to be risky and when he needs to get rid of it. He's only losing the ball when he tries something clever in the midfield area really.

    His reactions are usually very good.

    I agree and the progression you note is what I mean, he wants to and has the capacity to learn. There is no ego holding him back.

    <ok>

    The tactical side of his game has improved. I think the physical side to his game I think hes excellent, but has been a bit off at times this season due to injuries.

    Hopefully once we get through these 5 games and qualify for the CL :D he can have a long rest. Of course the ****ter is he is away to ACN again next year to have another year of disruption. He has been below his best but when we've really needed him to step he has. That is the mark of a great player.

    I rate Song very highly indeed, however, would I swap him with Tiote, no I wouldn't, however there isn't many teams in the Premiership that he wouldn't be starting for; in fact probably only us, Man City and maybe Chelsea.
