We can only rely on the spuds game and stoke for points we certainly wont get any points away not the ****ing way we play.
The really sad fact is that this team IS good enough for these lofty heights. Had we had this team from August, we would be comfortable now. It's all about timing. The probability is that we will go down but, more importantly, we'll be back!
I've been saying for ages it'll be us and Bolton that get out of it, after tonight, you've got to say Wigan will be safe. They were excellent, every single player knew their job and gave everything they had, I just hope our players were watching. I really hope the Clint Hill "goal" at Bolton isn't crucial when it's all over. We obviously need to win our homes games and pick up at least a point at Chelsea or City. However, Bolton do have difficult fixtures, plus they play 5 games in 15 days from Saturday, at this stage of the season, that's not going to be easy.
What we need is to win our two home games and go for it away. Get 9 points from 12 and we may be able to stay in the premiership.
Praying we win games home and away and Villa get sucked in (only a point in front of Wigan and game in hand's against Bolton). Vague hopes I know but what else can we do?
From 6 with fingers crossed it's now 9. And fickleness has got sod all to do with it. I'll still be here if/when we go down. If I were fickle I wouldn't be. It's all about Bolton now.
Why would we "slit our wrists"? I posited yesterday, and I'll stand beside it, that relegation or not we're in a better place to go forward as a club than at any time in the last 20 years.
Aye, like Oddball said, we've got some new dumbbells in the gym now. You're a good 'un Tel but I've yet to understand how going backwards can mean we're going forwards?
Wigan will get at least 40 points now I'm sure. After tonight I think Blackburn are now gone. If Wigan play like that at Ewood Park they will definitely beat Blackburn. It all depends on how Bolton cope with their games in hand, massive favours are needed from Villa and Swansea.
you shouldnt rely on other teams , but i really thought the arse would beat wigan tonite , it seems its now between us and bolton whom have 2 gamess in hand . lose or draw to spurs and its all over for us , the west brom result waas vital . but then how many other games we could/ should of won , after all its over a whole seaon that plots your final posoition , and for me the match v wolves at home was the downfall . if only we could show the fighting spirit that wigan have shown recently , we wouldnt be in this mess , got to beat the spuds , the scum and stoke now .
We are now where we were in the league 16 years ago - i.e. facing relegation squarely in the face. The difference now for me is we have owners - winners in their fields - who are determined to go forward and are putting everything into place for a better future. The "asset-stripping" wasn't just in flogging the likes of Sinton and Sir Les. It went to the heart of everything that makes for a successful club. No youth policy, primitive training facilities and letting your ground go to rack and ruin while all around you, everybody else is doing the opposite. It's all about sustainability for me. We're playing catch up. What's that saying about losing battles but winning wars?
You're not wrong Telf - but whilst we're much luckier than most in our situation, the climb back's a harrowing ordeal at the best of times and with no guarantees. Look at West Ham...
Yeah agreed. If we do go I'm not looking forward to the Championship again. But if they can't get it right and get us out of there, then we are screwed. I hope they've learned some lessons. Back your manager and don't run a club via Twitter feedback would be the first two imo.
So right now it certainly does look likely that either ourselves or Bolton will join Wolves & Blackburn for the drop. I realize that this appraisal is perhaps grasping at straws, but currently we do have 2 pts on Bolton, so if they only gain 2 pts from their 2 games in hand (say 2 draws) we would still be ahead of them on GD. However, they certainly have a nicer looking fixture list than our 4 remaining games.
