Waiting for the calls of Livermore to be deployed at centre back...

  2. I bet he'd do a better job than most. Just as THudd did, when he was played at CB.

It's not ideal, of course, and we'll all be hoping that we can strengthen in that area. I really do hope that Caulker and Naughton are given opportunities in the first XI, next season.

Yes, I'd give Rose a chance at LB. Benny is back to his worst, you just wonder how soon the next defensive howler is coming. You don't seem to have a very long wait, recently.

I think everyone is getting a bit carried away! Ok fair enough gallas and king are in their last few years and haven't had the best games as of late but Ledleys experience is invaluable for the youngsters coming through. I say give him a pay and you play contract with the idea to play him carling cup and fa cup games. Dawson isn't much better tbh I think a quality centre back needs to be brought to partner kaboul who has been amazing this season as for benny we know what to expect from him he even plays well or plays crap!

  5. We need to rotate our squad, especially at RB and LB. I love Walker and Benny to bits, but it's pointless our pretending that they have the class to play in every formation and against every type of opponent.

Our major problem is that we appear to have a manager who doesn't seem to realise this.

Benny has needed cover for, oh I don't know, three seasons now - Rose may have filled in for a few games here and there, but that doesn't address the fact that we have at least five right backs in our professional ranks (Walker, Corluka, Naughton, Smith, Byrne) yet only one left back. Even though we can deploy Naughton at left back, it's a situation that beggars belief for a myriad of reasons.

Kaboul, Dawson, Caulker, plus one more (Vertonghen would be fantastic) with King and Nelson as backup for games in Carling Cup etc.
Bassong and Gallas to go, and we still have that South African Bongani Khumalo remember.

As for FBs Rose did really well towards the end of last season when Benny was injured. Have those two as left backs.
Walker as RB obviously with one of Charlie (Who might be sold) or Adam Smith (Who might go out on Loan) as backup.
And then you have got Naughton who can play either side of the defense. Sorted!! :emoticon-0100-smile

We, Reading FC, have recently been linked with a move for Ledley King in the summer transfer window. Can't see it personally.

    You can have Khumalo.

    It was worth a try...

I'd honestly go for Nelsen and King. King may be in dire need of a rest, but Gallas needs to be put out of his misery.

Or we hear about Kaboul's miraculous recovery and the nerves are settled somewhat.

And is it just me or does King look a bit tubby nowadays?

Can hardly blame him. When you get over 30 a bit of swimming every day doesn't have quite the same effect as it did when you were in your twenties...
