Out of curiosity - do you guys want to keep Adebayor?

If so, how much is he worth?

i ask myself this question often.

im still unsure..as his demeanour sometimes does pee me off..however he has been a success for us...fitting into Harry's sytem pretty well...id keep him but at the kind of wages he wants i doubt it.

id pay up to 10 million for him or something in them regions.

I'm on the fence too. On one hand he seems to link up well and gives us a good outlet. On the other hand, he doesn't score enough, can disappear in games or become isolated but he's the best front man we've had in a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 for a long time. I think his wage demands will kill any deal.

Saha isn't the answer and Defoe is too selfish to do that job, let alone too small.

Flas i think Dzeko would do a job for us with our style....not saying he will come mind...but that is the kind of man we need to be our lone striker.

We missed a trick with jelavic as he is a class striker, everton got him for 6 million and would have suited us perfectly.

Yes. He gets along well with the squad, has had a very good first season with us and if he lowers his wage demands I'll be delighted if we sign him.

On the one hand he does link up play well, he's good at teeing up other players to score, and offers an aerial threat which so few of our squad have to offer. On the other hand, his wage demands remain excessive - plus talk of him wanting a hefty signing-on bonus - and for someone who is playing up front his goalscoring record is underwhelming.

If a player who can play in his role but fit into our wage structure joins - the likes of Remy or Cavani, to name but two - we should go for them above trying to tie down Ade.

Cavani? would love it to happen Croydon but we are in an ocean of sharks as soon as that would be suggested then the fat cats would snap him up by offering him more...we need to get realistic here.

we are not displaying the football reqd to attract such players..and we have a wage ceiling whch is easily smashed by other clubs..plus success breeds success and we are a shambles.

i think we should be looking closer to home for players like Yakubu etc to strengthen our squad as a whole.....cant expect much more im afraid.

    however i hope im wrong.

I read pretty recently that Cavani's wages at Napoli are around £55k per week, so from that standpoint he would fit into our wage structure...if we signed him in the summer, anyway, as it's likely he's expecting to cash in either at one of the leading lights, or a jumped-up club with a large budget at their disposal until FFP comes in.

Mirko Vucinic would've been a good addition, but I doubt Juve will sell him in the summer - he has all the attributes of Adebayor, and has been remarkably consistant in both scoring and creating opportunities in Serie A for several clubs.

    In answer to the OP--NO.

Too expensive , doesn't score enough. Can't do the damage like Drogba.
I would prefer to go for Drogba or Torres.

And yes we miss lots of tricks.

Don't buy into the hype... He's a decent finisher and little more.

His link up play and technique are very average, not the player you guys need to push on.

I'm not really sure, yes he fits into the team well but he either seems to play really well or just goes missing, he doesn't score enough considering the chances he has too.
His wage demands will probably be too high anyway and if you look back at his career he will spit his dummy and have a fight with somebody at some point.
We were sniffing around Remy apparently in January so maybe there's an option.

cheers for that but ive seen jelavic in action for a while now, as i stay up north and he is more then a decent finisher and i expect him to be a hit over here.

  15. You should be shouting no as loudly as possible. He has once again reverted to type, starting well but then getting lazy.

Do you know that he has given the ball away through mis-controlling it or being robbed of possession more than any other player in the league?

His game is sloppy and when he runs into his goal droughts he is completely useless to the team.

Not anywhere near worth the kind of money you would need to pay to keep him - there are better alternatives. Look at Newcastle - they brought in Ba and Cisse for a fraction of what it would cost to keep Adebayor.

    Adebayor hasn't been lazy.
He's become isolated and the supply to him has dried up as our squad has tired, due to a lack of rotation.
Not having a suitable alternative that can play his role in the side hasn't helped, either.

He won't possibly fit into the pay structure we have so its not really likely, a pity if he had a couple of decent strikers with him we might have moved up a level

  18. In the words of a certain "dragon," ahm oot!

Ade has been a bit better than what we've had to put up with for 2.5 seasons, but what we've had to put up with has been utter ****e. Let's face it, lads. Between them last season, Defoe + Crouch + Pav scored less than Darren Bent, which is pretty embarrassing, when you look at it. This season, what we've lacked is goals, so that tells us something....

We've got crap strikers, just like last season.

For me, we need to spend big on getting in a top striker, that's regardless as to whether or not we lose Modric and/or Bale. Either way, we need goals.

i'm know i'm gonna get slaughtered, but could Harry Kane be the one we need for goals scoring them like they are going out of fashion for Millwall

  20. I'd like to see Kane given a chance, but I can't see him leading the line for us, or being the focal point for our strikers. For that, we need an established and skilled marksman. The last one we had was Berbatov.
