Been through this before and probably will again next year. Why the hell is the biggest race on the face of the planet a bloody G3 race? Ridiculous! Yeah I know, I've heard all the arguments, handicaps allow scrubbers to win big races, but so what? The best horse on the day in a set weight race, is not necessarily the one you would want in your back yard. Kauto Star has been beaten, but I know which I would rather have had in my back yard the last five years. This is 2012 not 1912, time to get the finger out and give this wonderful race the merit it deserves. It's a bloody outrage.

Time to stand up and be counted my friends. Are we mice or men? Lets tell those toffy nosed, bourgeois pigs who profess to know what decisions are actually in our best interests, that we've had a thorough gutful. To say that I'm livid is to gild the Lily. I'm pissed that's what I am. No more my friends, tonight I take up the cudgels on behalf of racing fans right across the globe. Unless those spineless twats who govern the BHA grow some balls, and recognise their own inadequacies, I shall never again place my faith in a bureaucracy of any type. I shall become an anarchist. I'll spend the rest of my life rabble rousing on behalf of the man in the street, that man who's inner demons prevent him from taking this noble stand. I fully realise that there will be some on this forum who will disagree with the sentiments above, but I also know that they only object to the facts I've stated, because they fear public ridicule. I do this for them. Some one needs to take up the challenge, and I'm willing to be the first over the top. Be strong my friends, we can do this.

    G1 Grand National.

I can't stand the race personally but when i started a thread on the old 606 about it I was roundly condemned as being a snob!

Hey Dan, nice to see you again mate. The above is just a light hearted dig at those who run racing. I'm sort of caught between a rock and a hard place when it comes to the National. I've stated elsewhere that I think from an ethical point of view, that racing can't be supported. But here I am looking on like a rubber necked person at a car crash. I can't justify my watching racing. I'm weak. In truth the National should be scrapped. Just a personal opinion though. Anyways Dan, I hope you won't remain a stranger. :)

Cheers cyc - hope all is well with you. My only worry about scrapping the national is that once you get rid of one NH race the bunny huggers will be unstoppable. Smaller fields, shorter approach to the first and then try to do something about the fences that cause the biggest problems might be the solution but I'm not convinced.
