Believe me gents, I'm not here to gloat. We are in absolutely no position to be bragging as you are still in a far better position than us. But it has certainly got interesting over the last 24 hours and it will be a fascinating final few weeks of the season. Just remember this is West Ham chasing you here - not Man Utd. Even if you do drop points, we will probably find some way of missing our chance to close the gap! The club has this amazing nack of giving us fans hope just to let us down! But we have given ourselves a real chance and with Allardyce in charge (yes I know how you all cant stand him!), we might be a little more composed than we were under previous managers. If we had signed Vaz Te (the best goalscorer in the division in terms of goals to minutes) in August instead of january, things could have been so different. But we can't change the past and now it is just about making sure we win our final three games and wait for the pressure to get to you. Its going to be interesting. May the best team win. COYI.
Hi Trixter. I think one or two may have been planning which Premier League grounds they were going to go to next year and after today have realised that we are certainly not up yet. I still think we will do it though, I have us both down to win on Tuesday which should take us pretty close to the big prize. To go up you have to earn it, and to earn it we will have to win a couple more games. So good luck to all.
Well yes if you read my post you will see that I admit that I would rather be in your position. momentum could be shifting though.
So you've finally managed a win at home! But, if Saints win on Tuesday we'll be in a great position again as we would only need a draw at Boro and a win at home to Coventry and that's if you win all of your games. Tuesday night will certainly be interesting!
Yes Tom you are still very much in the driving seat. It is indeed our home form which has cost us. Too many draws in games we should have won has cost us the title. It would be very West Ham to go and lose to Bristol City on Tuesday after such a great performance today. It may well just be a little glimmer of hope before we finally have to accept the playoffs. But we certainly have a chance again.
Tbh, after all my criticism of the Premier League, I'm thinking a nice quiet promotion would do me a power of good, so that we can enter the world of predictability and little chance. This Championship competition is starting to catch up on me. In terms of excitement, the CL has got the PL beaten all ends up. I'm just not sure I'm up to it.
And, TSS, if we get relegated, we'll have another crack at the Championship title the season after next. And if we fail to be promoted this season, then we'll have a crack at the title next season. Things don't look so bad now.
When the three man shortlist for player of the season was announced, I remember saying that I was surprised that Vaz Te wasn't on there - and that was obviously before this great scoring streak of his that he's currently on. Whether it's a flash in the pan, or he really has turned into a top player, who knows. But there's no doubting that he's having a top season, first with Barnsley and now with West Ham. Although of course West Ham aren't a one man, despite his immense influence. Likewise nor are Reading, despite Roberts' immense influence. And yet we are. Apparently.
Good signing, yes, but Big Sam had to hit with one of them. Has the kitchen sink had any minutes yet?
