Just caught a bit of Lorimer on the radio. He said the letters will be going out to players next week, telling them whether they are going or staying. Might be an interesting week ...
Will be if they are expected to play a game, makes you wonder about Paynter now - Personally I would still let him go, today's goals might do his cause of finding a new club the world of good.
for me.. Forsell/Mikka/O'brien/Kisnorbo/Rogers/Connolly/Parker/Bromby/nunez/pugh and possibly Paynter - all depends on the next 3 games If your gonna push for it next year, your going to need to get rid of the dead wood!!
Just remembered - he also said that those still in contract who are surplus to requirements will be loaned out with LUFC paying part of the wages if necessary. So no-one's safe.
Paynter's done well for himself today. I say play him the rest of the season, then if he delivers the goods then it might be worth holding onto him. Keep in mind he did score a bucketful in League One, matching Lambert, Holt and Beckford. See how he does in the last few games. If he's doing well, think about keeping him, but don't make it a certain. If he goes back to being a carthorse, ship him out. I'm not entirely convinced, but no doubt the Leeds United propaganda machine will be working at full steam to make sure everyone becomes accustomed to the idea of keeping Paynter. At the end of the day, he's cheap and won't sell for much. Need to ship out Mikael "useless" Forsell, Mika "where did he go" Vayrynen and plenty more. But Billy's shown the right attitude, not giving up. Disgraceful comments by Lorimer on the phone in today, implying that it never happened for Billy because he wasn't given a chance. He was given plenty of chance by Grayson, in fact Grayson still believed in him when he proved to be useless. Then again, I don't remember the last time I heard Lorimer say something that wasn't subliminal messaging.
Wasn't there so I can't say this with any certainty, but from what I've heard McCormack had his best game in a long time too - anyone think this was down to the partnership with Paynter? When they played together at the end of last season I thought they showed some promise
We've been gearing up for next season pretty much since the Watford loss. We're even apparently announcing our first signing on the 1st of May.
Thats ridiculous. For one why not wait till after the season as theres still some games where the fans expect top performances. And 2 why send letters. Tell themin person you cowards
Lorimer is a jackass, and I get more and more annoyed listening to him. The other thing he said was that Beckford, Johnson, Howson and Kilkenny all got offered good and improved contracts but they all wanted to play in the prem. We know it's complete bull - slight improvements on League 1 contracts is not good offers for excellent players who are being courted by the Premiership Our club is run by fools and Lorimer is Bates' fool mouthpiece. What a twat he is.
No probably more to do with Peterborough having only won 3 games away all season and the fact they haven't won away from home since December 2011
Yeah this is true, they are definitely a good side though. Defensively a bit dodgy, and very inconsistent, but they are a good side
Just remembered another snippet from the radio - NW was talking about a squad of 21 players! Might bemore shipping out than we expected!
You inform your players if they have a job or not by letter? They come into work, can someone not speak to them directly? It seems a shabby and bizarre way of doing things.
I think you'll find that the letter is a legal confirmation of the face to face discussion that will be had.
That make far more sense, though if that's the case, it makes you wonder why Lorimar said the players would receive letters, why not just say the players were being informed?
Cos Lorimer does not know his arse from his elbow. He talks ****e. Only thing good about him were his feet, and they're probably fooked now
