There's no way it will be just one game in the US.

A few games in LA or New York?

    Sorry I couldn't resist. :)

I think a US tour would be a great idea. It's a massive and largely un-tapped market and football is very much on the up there, raising Newcastle's profile over there would only bring good things.

From a playing point of view it's a good level for pre-season fitness, around Championship/League 1 level but a slightly different style of play in a very different climate. I'd be all for it. <ok>

<EDIT> Sorry Beatski, that just dawned on me what you said. <laugh> Will rep as soon as possible, won't let me at the moment. <ok>

Lets all go, Geordies in America <diva>.

The link posted said its rare for a PL club to go for just one game, so surely it will be a tour!

Definite rep for that Beatski <laugh> oh wait, no. Must be spread.

Reports in the USA on Monday claimed that MLS side Sporting Kansas City will host Newcastle United in a friendly fixture to be played this coming summer.

News of the fixture appeared on the social networking site of Kansas President Robb Heinemann, earlier postings hinting at an English side providing opposition at the opening game of their new LIVESTRONG Sporting Park.

Construction of that 18,500 capacity venue (pictured above) began in January 2010 and is scheduled for completion in June. The venue name reflects a recently- announced tie up with the LIVESTRONG charitable foundation fronted by cyclist Lance Armstrong.

Sporting Kansas is the current incarnation of the Kansas City Wizards team, established in 1996. Assuming this comes to fruition, it'll be United's first visit to the USA since pre-season in 2000 when they played both DC United and Columbus Crew.

Everton and Manchester United have both recently confirmed pre-season matches in the USA

Used to be a frequent visitor to the States in day's gone by and know a few people in Kansas. Would be nice to go back and look them up and take them to the game. Would need to stay for at least two weeks though to make it worthwhile. Can't see it happening somehow. Pity though.
