Not only did I go to Sharon and Jeremy's wedding, I somehow managed to end up going out on Sharon's hen night too.
i thought don robby was reported as being quite ill at some point. i worked for city doing a placement for my degree when he and cliff waite ran city. cliffe waite ran crystal motors with the oughtreds and others. and i think they al had summat to with jacksons as well. neither were good employers no matter what was written about robby's popularity at the time. chillos book backs that up. cliff waite ran the the club on a day to day basis like a school tuck shop, and robby used to turn up once a week (or so) to fill his series 7 beema with juice and sign a few cheques. successive secretaries, bobby brown and ivor white each suffered anguish at the arthritic hands of cliff waite who was realy on an ego trip trip throughout and no more than robby's lacky throughout
I may be wrong, but I think Crystal Motors started as a subsidiary of Jacksons. Jacksons only used Ford cars/vans/Thames Traders and Crystal was just a Ford garage. Also it started out in Crystal Street (Derringham St) next to Jacksons bakery.
the incestual plot thickens! there's no wonder City have been historically in the doldrums. its been no more than a cash money bank for a few local wealthy related families for years and years. probably similar to many lower league clubs i suppose who survive on 'cash'
It was the 80's, so it probably could have been described as fancy dress. Me and a mate were in The Wheatsheaf and all the girls came in to start their night out and decided to drag us along.
Dave Dewberry (brains) is on the run somewhere in England i believe My brother paul was one of the coffin carriers, I distanced myself from the farce as even to-day i cannot bring myself to be critical of the club i love
we used to babysit for the Ougtred family - always seemed ok to me , i remember they had a nice wine collection BUT the TV had damage caused by a nearby speaker
