I don't understand why this has suddenly become an issue. Everyone knows that Liverpool will not play on a certain day in the year, and I personally find that quite refreshing in this era where games are scheduled at such bizarre times to suit Sky TV.

As for Mr Davies, he should pick his material with a bit more care next time. Comedy may be tragedy + time as someone once said, but there simply hasn't been enough time to forget the awfulness of what happened at Hillsborough.

Well that is the FA's fault that they are trying to pay the debt created from making Wembley back. They could've easily staged the other semi-final at the Etihad, Villa Park, Millenium stadium etc on the saturday.

I think Chelsea-Tottenham at Wembley and Liverpool-Everton at Old Trafford both on the Saturday would have been the logical solution but money is the key driver here.

    Couldn't agree more.

Surely as football fans the deceased would want the game to go ahead. Its about time Liverpool stopped all this nonsense and just forget about it. I bet they would have no problem playing on the same date as Heysel........

Playing on that date for Liverpool should be used to celebrate them, what more fitting way could there be than Liverpool playing a game? A full house celebrating their lives.

I think the above comment summed up how most of us felt about the Liverpool game. A full house celebrating the lives of those that were lost. I believe it's how the people of Liverpool feel in general.

Especially this year when the game on question is a Merseyside derby. The Man Utd v City game on the Munich anniversary was a fantastic event.

That said I'd still leave it in Liverpool's hands, but I think it needs to happen eventually.

Bindippers and Everton fans still not happy though complaining about 12.30 kick off.

I agree with not bowing down to Sky and their stupid KO times, but as plenty have said what a fantastic way to celebrate those peoples lives than an FA cup derby at Wembley.

plenty of teams still play on dates of previous disasters, so what makes Liverpool so special.

I personally think it makes even more of a point of bringing it up and raising it's profile than had they had just played on the day as previously arranged.

It's really only come to light because of Alan Davies comments which were OTT, but it is affecting other teams which I think makes it a selfish act from Liverpool since it was 23 years ago.

Time to move on and just show a mark of respect rather than making themselves the martyrs.
