I have no idea how he didn't get an additional ban for frivolous appeal? It was clear as day what he did, and he was appealing to the same people who gave him the retrospective ban in the first place.
This sort of stuff is ruining the game! You had to do murder to get sent off , 50 years ago, then you were back the next week! Now if you do so much as to give someone a dirty look its a yellow card!
As an outsider, I think the offence was pretty obvious and the appeal was bound to fail. In the circumstances, he was perhaps a little fortunate not to have had the ban exxtended. What annoyed me this weekend was how Derry's appeal was turned down, when it was clearly a dive by Ashley Young - and not his first one!! If I was to brush my hand against a grown man's back it wouldn't make him fall over. Otherwise, people would be dropping like flies when queuing up for last orders in my local on a Saturday night. I also can't understand why Kaboul was not done for a deliberate kick off the ball. Are the football authorities that desperate to keep ol' saggy features on side until the summer?
You have to wonder how it's right that having blatently cheated, young won the points for United by diving then gets to play the next few games where as Derry gets sent off and now has to miss games with a ban he should never have had.
