Yep, I can see Barton and Diakite sent off before half time if we chase them down relentlessly. I have yet to see any PL club preventing them having the majority of possession so I don't see why we would be any more effective or why it even makes sense to chase them all over the pitch. Let's play it like we did against the Arse, let them have the ball in their own half but aim for a shut out in ours and get the midfield forward quickly when it breaks down.

Then we shouldn't play Mackie either, he's lost the ball as much as SWP this season, if we only look at that. But SWP is faster and imo better defensively than Buz, much better in interceptions and tackles. Just can't see the point in playing Buz in a game like this. Playing SWP will most certainly give a couple free kicks in positions, where Tarbs can deliver the ball in the box.

Helguson ,Mackie and SWP are all idealsubs. Helguson with his heading power ,Mackie with his fighting spirit and SWP with his pace when he is coming against tired defenders&midfielders. Mackie still should be in starting XI because Cisse is out. DJ did not look any good last sunday.

sorry to say but id start swp ahead of buz, yes swp hasnt been great but when a team like swansea have the ball you have to work hard to get it back, buz doesnt do that. he was awful sunday, the game passed him by. we need swp with his pace as an outlet and i think he will score tonight

All this rubbish about how SWP works hard is a null point. That is a given. Everyone of our players (except Bothroyd) will work hard between now and end of the season. SWP has demonstrated no quality all year. I have never seen a player fall over son often for a short player his balance is atrocious. When he picks the ball up and trys to run with it he looks like a drunk toddler.

Just because he's always been quite good on Fifa does not mean he should get in our side

Buz is a centre mid. SWP is a rubbish right midfielder. Buz can pass short and long balls. Can cross and is in my view our best from dead balls. SWP lives off his reputation that he had before he came to us but has not come remotely close to living up to that since he arrived here.

No contest in my eyes about who plays between those two

I thought Buz improved a lot in the second half but that's just me. I think he needed to pull back and take over some of Derry's duties which we know don't suit him as much.

Out of interest in thos advocating SWP to start. Please name at least a couple of performances from this season that you would like him to recreate?

To be fair to him, there have been two or three performances by him which I've thought were ideal. I can't remember which games they were because I have a head like a sieve but yes... these performances have been too uncommon. There are players that deserve a chance/start before him, like Tommy Smith for example. Now Tommy Smith is a player that may not play pretty but somehow seems to do important things for us.

Since 99% of Swanseas passing is along the back 4, it might make sense to play 2 up front but I see us playing 1 up front unless we arent winning with 30 to go.

I agree on the Cerny front. Although, Kenny has improved lately.

I disagree on the Onouha front as I think Young is better in that position.

I want to see HH at some point, although I don't think he's great as a sub but might be better if he plays for 30 mins or more.

Young doesnt make obvious mistakes but just watch how many goals come from the RB position when he plays, the vast majority stem from him not closing down his man for fear of being beaten.

HH would be my choice to replace Zamora if things arent going right too.

I don't want him to start but if he did: Newcastle (H) and Wolves (A).

Problem is that Buz is a lazy bastard really whereas Tommy Smith is a grafter.

On reflection (and I haven't been drinking at lunchtime) I would start with Smithy but Hughes won't he'll start Buz, I'm sure of it

Smith isnt a CM and Im sure we will go 3 in the middle and theres really no one else except Buz.

Hes also a player who can win a game on his own from a set piece.

It's about time we had a another performance from Buz like he gave us against Wigan! I agree with Flyer that we don't really have an obvious replacement for Derry in central midfield other than Buz. I can't see SWP, Mackie or Smith their myself, though MH seems to have played SWP there without success.

SWP should not start. He looses the ball far too often and I cant honestly remember him taking it round a player since xmas or even forcing a corner or a chance. As for his shooting its piss poor to say the least. He also shows no willingness to win the ball back. In his 20 min cameo against United, he lost the ball everytime it came to him and when he did, he didnt go and make a challenge or try to win the ball back, he just slowly walked back. I could see past his lack of skill if he worked hard (like Mackie) but he doesnt

    He's on form then!!

More than 25 games ago to a game when he wasted numerous chances to win us the game and another where he scuffed a cross to Barton. <doh>
