Sad to see the current manager of Scotlands oldest and finest being linked with the likes of Scunthorpe, can understand him speaking to his National side. But then look at the transformation he has done to the sorry looking Killie of last season, with some great football being played, and then understand his possible desire to leave as he looks at the rows and rows of empty seats at every home game, he must say to himself where can i take this lot as we need the gate money to pay our debts and progress.
Strange language used by a Killiephile. " sorry looking" "where can I take this lot" Comments that possess a modicum of truth but written in a way that makes me wonder about there origins and sincerity. Also no positive spin or even gratitude for what he has done so far which the vast majority of fans feel . And for the record he isn't known as St Pat??
I agree Bonbon. Strange first post. W.r.t. Mixu and Scunnie; I really hope he's not tempted away by a bigger salary, as realistically that's all it can be.
Sorry lads you see it as strange first post, possible reflection on my depressed state as currently working in small town USA and it really is Deliverence Country complete with the banjo's. Anyway back to Killie, my origins, nearly 50 years of unbroken support. Was just really trying to say that the current team deserves far better gates than what they are recieving and really dont know how the club can clear it's debts and move forward on the present income, as I dont see a sugar daddy coming to the rescue, as for my lack of congrats for Paatelainen after the miracle transformation of last seasons team I think he deserves Sainthood and full houses at RP, which in it's self might make us a more interesting and viable proposition to possible investors and go some way in making him want to stay.
BW, the current team might deserve better gates, but the truth is football is just too expensive to attend and the alternatives on live TV to attractive. Killie's regular home gate of around 4500 holds up in comparison to their peers with only the city clubs having better attendances. As for clearing the debt, you are right about the sugar daddy scenario, but we'll never clear it on gate money. IMO the only way is to develop cheap and sell on a la Sammon. In fact 20 more like Conor and we'll be debt free
BW agree with GE that football in Scotland is relatively expensive, for the cost of an SPL season ticket, excluding the old scum , you can get Sky Sports for a year. Even in our glory years in the 60,s we struggled to average more than 10,000.Mixu,s team deserves better than the slight increase from last years attendances, but as that lad Peston on the BBC keeps harping on about, theres a recession on. Also I am a little more sceptical than GE regarding our ability to produce another Naisy/Sammon.The vultures are already hovering with regards to our other jewels and players near the end of contracts.Post Bosnan I cant see us ever getting out from behind the 8 ball but hey thats just my opinion and I am a cynical old git.
Bonbon, I don't think that we are well set up to produce players, but I do believe its the only way! Sad, eh?
