The appeal will be lodged before the Swansea game on Wednesday, so Derry will be eligible to play in that fixture, pending the result of the appeal. If the appeal is unsuccessful, Derry will miss Saturday's game at West Brom
But Joey will miss that match too when he picks up his next next yellow card, perhaps more prudent to let Derry sit this one out???? And have him ready to take Bartons place????
I am no expert but I can see the FA saying that the offside doesn't come into it, it wasn't given. Then Derry did lay a hand on Young, albeit the slightest brush. The FA will protect their own, especially after the well-publicised comments from Phil Beard will have rubbed them up the wrong way. In their view, Young exaggerated it but Derry tried to put him off with a slight nudge. This would be a ridiculous conclusion but totally in character.
Well for what it's worth lads if it was up to me I would rescind the red card immediately (and I'm a Swans supporter). Taking the offside out of the equation the question is, was it a red card offence ? Answer must be No. Was it a yellow card offence ? Again No for me. Scandalous decision and it's about time players diving/cheating were taken to task. Good luck after Wednesday of course but don't worry I reckon you'll be ok. Wolves are as good as gone and I expect Wigan and Bolton to go as well. See you Wednesday.
It was against A**hole Young who happens to represent Manchester United and that is the reason and only reason why it was a violent conduct. Hope Derry stays out from jail for that.......
Anyone else noticed that dezzas given red for it being a clear goalscoring opportunity let Young was never once in control of the ball, so how can it be a goalscoring opportunity. The offside wont matter because when a team score an offside goal it cant be taken back so our only hope is that the FA see the minimal contact and agree with the appeal. Never a sending off in any sense
Eeek, sorry for the confusion!!! I'm certainly not a WUM as Beth said, I has misread the site, it is infact Mario Ballotelli that is banned for 4 games for violent conduct!
joeys yellow cards have been wiped out as has everyone else's. that's why he was dropped for utd. if he got booked he'd have got suspended but now he's got a clean slate.
I doubt there would be many true football supporters who would argue with a 10 match ban for cheating . This would go a long way to solving this vile problem . Problem is its not in the interests of most of the the big clubs .
From what I have seen of the media there seems a general shout from about everyone that Young was cheating and that Cheats should be severely punished. I cannot understand how with this the FA can uphold the red card for Derry, and not bring a charge agaionst Young, but then I'm not too optimistic about any sensible decision coming out of footballs' governing bodies. And what the hell is Mason, a Bolton fan according to another thread on here, doing refereeing a QPR game now when we and Bolton are fighting each other to escape relegation!
But then there would be arguments over who was actually cheating. If they cannot say 100% for sure that a player was intentionally cheating then they could not act against the player. Ofcourse, this would undeniably lead to cheats in "top" clubs - such as Ashley Young - being let off because the panel weren't 100% sure, whilst players from other teams would always be bang to rights and banned for 10 games.
Agree with many of you on here that the red card will stand. To reverse the decision the FA will be admitting two things. One that their official got it wrong and two that Ashley Young is a cheat. Everyone in football knows it should be overturned but its a near certainty that it will stand.
Let's just be relieved that Ashley Young isn't suing Derry and QPR for such a vicious and unprovoked assault. I applaud him for having the determination to carry on and attempt another dive in the second half, scandalously waved away by Mason (though not a booking), and be able to step on a football pitch knowing such violence could occur again. Pray for Ashley.
Why would they punish young When Carroll got off with nothing and he was a couple of feet away from being touched?
