Well done H...6 of us going and a nutter from Bedford is meeting us in The Cherry Tree, should be a good afternoon. Arrangements are in hand for Brighton, looks like we are renting a big battle bus and leaving bandit country about 12.30 with pick up's in 'emel and Watford then straight down to Brighton for an afternoon of crazy golf, candy-floss, fish and chips and the slots......nah, an afternoon in the pub more like it!
Great stuff w_y! I'll be in Brighton too ...going with friends who are celebrating a birthday..even Mr H will be there..though i hate watching Watford with Mr H...he is soooo critical, i must lend him my Golden coloured specs!
you're welcome Barry, i'm sure you must have done ...i didn't get to say goodbye on Friday, so...goodbye lol..see you at Posh!
Hey Guys and Gals. I just thought i would post some directions and help for those wishing to go to the match. By Train There are no trains directly from Watford to Peterborough (as far as i can find). However there are trains from London Kings Cross roughly every 15mins. It takes 45-50mins and then its approximately 15-20mins to walk to the ground. There are several ways to get there, this map is best to show both options. You can follow the main road to the river from where you can see the ground, or you can cut straight through the Queensgate shopping center and the city center to the river again. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl By Car This will take about 1hr 30mins so i would recommend leaving at or before 12. Peterborough is notoriously busy on football weekends. Leave the A1 at junction 16 with the A15. Take the A15 (london road) towards Peterborough, you will eventually come to the ground on your right. There is a car park at the ground or otherwise there is a council pay & display car park just off London Road (on your left as you pass the ground going towards the city centre). This costs £4.40 for four hours. Otherwise there is street parking to be found on side streets further up Oundle Road (A605). Please though check for any parking restriction signs on lampposts, as the side streets nearest to the ground operate a residents only parking scheme.
if i remember rightly, there's very little parking around the ground so get there early. If you get there in time, there's street parking for free
There aint a great deal of parking at the ground so i would say get there early. But there is apparently a council car park. But i dont know it. The Cherry tree is not far at all
coolio...i won't be able to leave til 11ish, but will be leaving before 11.30am hopefully. I remember parking pretty close last time, so it shouldn't be a problem, coz i left a lot later last time! lol
So what time will we be meeting at the pub?? and what plans after the game? I need to inform dad as he is driving up and picking me up on the way.
okay, i'll be leaving around 11:15, so should be at the pub (after parking near the ground) around 1ish hopefully. I suspect after the game we'll head back to the pub, and then maybe have a bite to eat? What does everyone want to do?
There is some parking at The Cherry Tree if you get there early enough and there is also a Pay & Display a little past it on the left just after the railway bridge - I think it is a car park used for that old Steam Railway and there are signs with trains on. The ground is just a bit further over that big junction with the A15. It's probably about a half mile from the pub to the ground. We should be at the pub by 13.00 for a few and some lunch...will do the planning tomorrow on the way down to Brighton.
