Anybody remember Radio 270? I once went round it on a trip out from Scarborough on the Yorkshire Belle or the Regal Lady - A trip on the Regal Lady - sounds like the title of a porn film though! There was a third boat in Scarborough but I can't remember what it was called. There were two in Brid. I think Yorkshire Lady might have been one but I could have them the wrong way round.
Saw the Beatles in Llandudno - they were doing two shows a night and I saw them on the last show. About 2 weeks later they had 6 records in the Top 20 and 'Beatlemania' had broken out. Saw the Stones at The Gondola coffee bar in Little Queen Street.....the Yardbirds and the Animals at Bev Road Baths.....the Small Faces at the Skyline Ballroom (above the Co-op store)...Dylan at the Isle of Wight festival in '69.....woke up on a Barcelona camp-site in '68 (San Fermin festival, where they have the bull-running) and heard Donovan's 'Hey Gyp - Dig This Slowness). Saw the Fairports at Burton Constable Hall. Saw the Greatful Dead at Newcastle City Hall and, a week later, Captain Beefheart at the same venue. My mate was Clash road manager and I saw 'em at Leeds and also Brid. Mind you, sometimes I feel I'm about 100 years old!
My sister Zena went to see Dylan at the Isle Of Wight festival in 69 with a group of people from Hull does that name sound familiar?
A bunch of us went down in a rented white Transit, left it in Pompey, crossed on the ferry.......somehow found the van to get back to Hull. Zena? Don't recall her name though.
