Just shows we need a stronger squad and we will have extra money should we qualify for Europe, which I would say is odds on these days.

It's one ****ing article on a random site mate.

As soon as one of our scouts eyes a player as a possible target, in the eyes of the press that means we're gonna ****ing sign em!

At the end of the day, we shouldn't be negative. Losing a couple of players wont be the end of our dreams.

We should have learned by now not to be crying our arses off at the selling of a certain player. We have a great team. We will only sell our players for silly money. We can replace them, and we have one of the best scouting systems in the league.

Don't be miserable. Be positive. It's only one ****ing website that wants attention and spouts ****.

I know we got lucky in the last window, however I'm saying it right now " we should not expect the same results ever again" it's been a miracle!

    Let's look at this logically.

The players sold in the last year, including last season's sale.

    January 2011:

Carroll - 35 mil - Pulled to one side by Pardew and asked if he wanted to leave. Later that day, sold for an astronomical fee and a massive wage increase.

    Summer 2011:

Enrique - 5 mil - Didn't want to remain at the club, had grievances with the board. Sold to Liverpool after contract talks in the summer were withdrawn.

Nolan - 4/5 mil - Rejected a long term contract because of the wage. Swiftly sold to West Ham.

Barton - Free - Arguments with the board and violent behavior towards reserve players in pre-season. Club wanted to cut their losses after an unprovoked Twitter tirade. Went to the only club willing to increase his pay.

Routledge - 2 mil - Knew his time here was coming to an end, wanted out. Went to Swansea.

Fraser Forster - Loan with clause to permanent deal - Knows he's not going to make it here with Krul taking the No.1 spot. Leaving to progress his career.

    January 2012:

No one except the reserves we're keeping to gain first team experience.

Recurring theme in all of them. All the players wanted to leave, with the exception of Barton who forced himself out of the club in the end. All the players at present are happy apart from Guthrie who's leaving in the summer. Just because we'll have an influx of new players, doesn't mean we're instantly selling people, recent history shows we'll only sell players on our terms or cause unrest and for our price valuations.

Like I've said before I gave up on hopes and dreams when I **** myslef on hole 9 at close house a few years back. Don't get me wrong I'm loving seeing us do so well but all I'm saying is standby for an influx of unpleasant circumstances.

Andy Carroll didn't want to leave - but just like all of us, if we are offered a £40k a week wage increase, we'd be gone in the blink of an eye.

Despite it looking less likely due to the combination of Demba and Papiss, I can see Andy Carroll coming back sooner or later... but not for big money obviously.

It's a bit naive to think that he was forced out though like he claims.

    We need another keeper.

Forster - Gan to Celtic or already has.

    Ode - Gone.

Elliot - He's ok but not good enough for our level.

We need a good keeper, not just for cover, but also to play in Europe as we cannot play Krul ever game/

Perhaps Al Habsi? If Wigan get relegated.

Not when you consider the fact Limbiarse and Fatty had to admit and pay compenation for lieing to the press etc over the Keegan saga,

Really hope Guthrie doesn't go like some are suggesting he will, think he's an excellent choice in our current 3 in midfield formation, hopefully board and his agent can come to an agreement.

I agree but I think he will leave and end up wasting his career with the likes of Villa

Yeah, well he's going to be going to a lesser team if he does go mate, no doubt about that. His agents probably already sorted a better deal for him at the club wherever he ends up if he does go

Of course Carroll was forced out - a way-over-the-top money offer from Liverpool left the board with no qualms about arranging that helicopter to whisk him down to Merseyside. None of us can prove that Carroll didn't demand to go, but the lad still comes up here, all his mates are Toon fans as far as I know, and his lifestyle is typical of a Gateshead lad, but with money ...

Maybe the likes of me might be prone to being a bit naive about our own people, but he looks as much a Geordie as he ever was, and I doubt that will change. I quite enjoyed watching him throw off that Liverpool shirt as soon as he could ...

But the board lie when it suits them, maybe it is called being ruthless in business, and in the Carroll case the losers were our fans, particularly the season ticket holders who had paid to watch the team lame to the finishing post without a decent striker.

But I'm sure many will point out - it all turned out to be a masterstroke in the end.

I reckon Al Habsi will go to Spurs, they'll need a keeper when Friedel retires. Al Habsi is one of the best keepers in the league, why would he come to be back-up?

No we don't, we have Alnwick coming through. Fits into our promotion of youth and means we have 3 young keepers that are talented.

Corgnet; as stated, a replacement for the out of contract Guthrie or perhaps Smith.
Debuchy; again as stated, a potential replacement for Simpson or perhaps competition for that position with the view of Santon staying LB.
Yanga-Mbiwa; We've needed another centre-back for years. Even Bassong was signed for the youth team and played because we were short.
Amalfitano; an ultra low cost squad member with potential to boost the reserves and play cup games.
Kondogbia; A youth team member to help replace the dozen or so released. PErhaps Abeids replacement when he progresses to the reserve/first team pool.

There is every chance Tiote or Ba will be sold this summer for a profit.
But it's also possible players like Simpson, Guthrie, Smith, Gosling, Lovenkrands, Ranger and Best are the ones to be making way.
5 of those 7 would likely get a chance at teams like Villa, Fulham, Swansea, Norwich, WBA, Southampton, Reading etc.
They need replacing in the squad and the youth pool is being decimated so we have minimal progress from there.
