Now I seen em all just about but this lot were miles ahead, the greatest rock and roll band in history, nobody and I mean nobody played it and said it quite like The Who http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdRs1gKpeGg&feature=related
also this plumber kid from Sheffield could belt out a hell of a song too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQLtCoh5EaI&feature=relmfu Do'nt get me started on 60's/70's music ha ha ha
Geez that's all modern Stuff ......................... where are "The PLatters"......"Frankie Lymon".......Bill Haley etc etc.
Was thinking about putting a thread up about music from that era, but, didn't want to isolate the youngsters even more!!
In the 70,s I got right into the Flying Burito Brothers, I still listen to their albums now. Also Bowie was right up there, Even earlier was Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Hank C Burnette, Billy Lee Riley. I used to buy a lot of imported singles from Shakespears that used to be in Station, which sadley closed in the eighties.
hank c burnette turned out out to be swedish. i just got one 45. johnny burnett i got more of. colin shakespeare was a band leader in his time.
All excellent stuff on this thread - and takes me back to times that seemed much more optimistic. I'll add this group to the mix. A little more out of the mainstream but I enjoyed them in the late sixties. Arthur Lee - on self destruct from the start.
Was brought up listening Simon & Garfunkel my dad loved them even played this at his funeral 2007. Still brings a tear to the eyes
You all have great taste in music! Even if we had to blow a lot of dust off the old 45's, they are all still classics in their own right!! But as we are now into a new day, how about,"Lazy Sunday Afternoon"?
