Hey, what's wrong with Catholicism? If you read past the **** they're telling you in the Star (feel free to pick your own toilet paper) it makes quite a bit of sense. I think religion's very important to have as a society; without it it would pretty much be guaranteed that there would be no morality, whic would make the world an altogether more ****ed-up place.

 

I agree, religion plays NO PART in my life but it's a force for good.

Why do religious people have a monopoly on morality? At the end of the day, they're only doing good for selfish reasons because they think they're going to be rewarded in the after-life. The truly selfless people are atheists who do good for its own sake with no expectation of future reward.

Religion and the subsequent belief in afterlife etc. is a comfort blanket for those too stupid to accept the fact that once you die its the end, there is no eternal life in the kingdom of heaven. When you die you die.

The whole concept of people doing good for the promise of a reward in the afterlife is deeply offensive to any truly good person. Any good I happen to do is done to help those who require help, not as a desperate attempt to save my soul from the eternal hellfire.

Religion was devised as a way to control the hoards of peasants back in ancient times and as a way to explain things they did not have the knowlege to explain about the world. Science has proven pretty much all of it wrong. I pity religious people.

 

I actually envy the silly twats, at least they have hope, spesh the Muslims who think they will wake up next to 20 virgins, good luck with that fellas

Although I'm not religious I have been brought up on beliefs based on some of Christianity.

However that's still doesn't make me believe theres still a place left for religion. For all their ****e about everyone's equal etc is all bullshit.
