Real Madrid Barcalona Athletico Madrid Depotivo Valencia How many Italian and English top flight winners over the past 20 years. We often hear other leagues called 2 horse races, other than scotland.. the rest appear to be the same as the prem with one team dominating, in fact this has been more one sided in England with United picking up nearly all of the titles yet spain is called Barca v Real yadda yadda. Spain Real England UNited Italy Milan The German league seems to offer up a few winners over the past 20 years, probably more varied that the others. I could be wrong.
Does it mean La liga is stronger than EPL.? They have two teams left in the champion league why England have only one. While do we refer to EPL as the best league in the world then.
England: Manchester United Arsenal Chelsea Blackburn Rovers Only one behind. Cant speak for the Italian league.
Italy starting form 91-92 season: Milan Juventus Lazio Roma Inter 5 again And for those interested, German: VfB Stuttgart Werder Bremen Bayern Munich Borussia Dortmund Kaiserslautern VfL Wolfsburg
1. italy had a corruption issue. has it not been found i think the list owuld be different. 2. spanish clubs hammer all engish challenger period. bilbao hammered utd twice, some say utd didn't care. I'd love to see bilbao play utd in the cl.... 3. chelsea will get crucified in the next round. all psanish final is 80% assured. bayern are a top side with top players and could shcok real but i'd still put real as favorites there. 4. EPL is in no way the best league i nthe world. we have too many small un motivated and unambitious clubs only interested in surviving.
I think the premiership is the "best" league in the world. To participate in and to watch. However, I do not think that the premiership has the best teams in Europe in it if that makes sense. That honour belongs to the Spain's La liga which have the two top teams in the world. But yet few IMO think la liga is the best league in the world. Would anyone want to watch Real v/s santander or Barcelona v/s another mid table team? the same I remember when the Italian Serie A had the the best teams in Europe and yet their football was (is) boring to watch. As for the premiership, I think it is not that straightforward. I do not think that the premiership is dominated by one (or two) team. City was the best team by far for most of the season. Same as last year, Chelsea was the best team for the first half. The mancs do not dominate (not since the days of Cantona and Keane/Beckham anyway) yet they somehow manage to win the league if that makes any sense. If you look at their squads in the last few years, I would not have put them as favourites at the start of each season.
I think the prem is the most exciting league in the world to watch but I dont think it comes anywhere near to being the top league in regards to technique or just keeping the ball, too much hoofing in England IMO.
True, but go back 25 years and it's seven winners in England (add Leeds, Everton and Liverpool) but still only five for La Liga. And could be eight this year in England if City get their **** together, whereas it's guaranteed to be Real or Barca in La Liga. Also, over the last twenty five years: Barca - 11 Real - 10 Valencia - 2 Atletico - 1 Deportivo - 1 England: Utd - 13 Arsenal - 5 Chelsea - 3 Liverpool - 2 Everton - 1 Leeds - 1 Blackburn - 1 So whilst Utd have dominated the PL more than Real or Barca, it's been a lot more even below them. And of course the further back you go in England the less Utd's dominate, whilst you can go back to 1951 in La Liga and still have Real and Barca winning 90% of the titles...
True swarbs but its 20 years.. Still, its the same in every league pretty much which indicates a monopoly of sorts because unlike the 60s 70s 80s it was not the megabucks machine it is now, money can and often is the deciding factor, you need to spend lots or get lucky with a young squad coming through, the latter so much less likey than before unfortunately
