Totally agree Tractorbhoy, and they have the ****ing gall to put up signs every ****ing 10 yards saying THINK BIKE! When some of the ****s learn to ride responsable then i might THINK BIKE. I nearly had one off a few months back when they under cut me, 15 minutes later i saw them wrapped around the central reservation! could have been just as much me as the poor girl that knocked them off and killed them!

    Rant Over!

Sorry mate, as an ex fulltime union secretary, how can I politely tell you that you're talking bollocks about MOST unions. The Tory press and media would have you believe that every Union and its secretaries are looking to go on strike because the chocolate on the biscuits is plain not milk. However they never publish all the exceptional work they do and that saves the country time and money.
The current talks not strike that are taking place are because of some scheming by their SEVEN different employers. Agreed one or two of the full time officials are trying to make it political. Its a shame.
And of course no employer would ever raid his staff pension fund or not pay the tax he has taken out of his wages, or kill people in the work place because they don't care to spend too much money on safety. No its only the hoi polloi who are scheming lazy bastards trying to bring the country to its knees.
No ****in Government would knowingly send young lads to Afghanistan and restrict how many rounds they can fire when they come under fire in the open would they because they are public schoolboys not lads who left scholl at 16.
Rant nearly over. Anybody else want a fight.

Moderate trades unions are great for the working men and women of this country! The red trots like Mclusky (spelling), Bob Crowe and Mark Sewotka are the ones that would love to bring this country to its knees! I wish I coulod get away with a £500-£1000 bonus just to do my job! <ok>

Even worse be a s*it banker, and get paid £1m for them to get rid of you. Totally agree on the Australian twist at the end of the sentence JWM - excruciating!!

Almost as bad as people putting exclamation marks after comments - I must stop doing that! (done it again! - oh FFS)

I don't have an issue with most unions or union work. I work for an engineering firm and completely appreciate the tremendous and necessary work done in areas such as Health and Safety, working time regs etc.

I do have an issue with the political opportunism used by the leaders of the tanker drivers who are better paid than most and they have yet to reveal what their real gripe is other than trying to get more for themselves at the cost of screwing the rest of the country over.

I also have an issue with the public sector unions who have yet to accept the economic realities of our current crisis - I know a substantial amount of the problem has arisen due to the bankers appaling behaviour but I also think people forget that the national debt was rachetted up by giving huge pay rises to already well-paid professions such as Doctors/Teachers/Dentists/Police/Firefighters. I have no issue with bringing the standards of those at the lower end up - for example most nurses deserve more and I am all in favour of the rich paying more tax to fund an increase in the personal allowances of the lower paid. Just because some people at the top behave poorly is no excuse for the rest of us to do so as well.

Don't understand why you are briing up Afghanistan/Pension scheme theft by such as Maxwell/Health and Safety to back up your argument as I agree 100% with all of your points, as would most people.

I appreciate that as an ex-union secretary you are likley to be strongly pro-union and anti-management but not everything is black and white. There are some terrible employers who try to make profits off the back of ill-treating their workers but I think you'll find that most are pretty reasonable people who are struggling to keep their businesses afloat and keep people employed. Similarly I know that there are any number of decent union members and reps who just want a fair crack of the whip and are not greedy or prepared to bankrupt either a company or the national economy. I have a very specific gripe and I suspect we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Tube and train drivers are paid around £40 - £45K a year! Then they have the ****ing brass neck to demand an extra £1,000 bonus for just doing their jobs during the Olympics! <grr> Most ordinary workers in the private sector haven't seen a pay rise in 3 years and yet these leeches can get away with blue murder at our expense!

I'm guessing that you don't work in the public sector with a lovely cast-iron pension scheme to retire on then?

I hate the way that some posters feel that they are allowed to comment on anything they like without repercussions yet if anyone makes a comment back then its a bite! <whistle>

Do I have to resign to the same tactics just to belittle their weak efforts in a bid to make them understand how annoying and stupid it is? <doh>

I hate the Daily Mail, poor excuse for a newspaper that thinks it is a broadsheet but actually makes the News of the World look ethically sound.
