the everton-coventry thing was before i started going so can't say i feel anything negative towards everton for their part in it. but i'm sure even warky will admit, the result must have been a bit dodgy looking at the time... i actually rather like everton - proper football club. i can't understand why nobody will invest in them! i assume its cos of the lack of a new ground. goodison is falling to pieces and the club as a whole needs investment. personally, i feel they are the next big club who will get serious investment and then challenge at the top. might take a few years but i can see it happening.
I agree Supers! Everton are a well run football club that has to live within its means. David Moyes imo is a superb manager who has kept them punching above their weight over many years. Just imagine where he would take them if they had real money to spend! A fantastic guy and a fantastic manager, I have a lot of time for him!
the irony being that if everton were taken over by some sheik, they'd probably remove moyes and get in mourinho!
I still strongly dislike both Everton and Coventry for the 1985 debacle - they were the best team in the league by 10 or so points that year and got shellacked 4-1 by Cov on the last day of the season playing their uner-12 girls second 11. That said had we taken a single solitary point from 1p5wich they would have been relegated and we would have stayed up... still if my aunt had bollocks she'd be my uncle etc etc! What was really galling was hearing Cov fans going on about how they had one of the longest unbroken runs in the top division. I must confess to raising a glass when they finally got their comeuppance and will do so with gusto if they ever grace League 1.
Just for balance I do like and rate Moyes who seems to be a very decent bloke who has done a superb job given what resources he has available to him. I think a draw or home win on Saturday - Everton on good form but we are tough to beat at home, they are not exactly world-beaters and we will having GH raring to go.
Third best defence in the league. Nice to see some praise for Moyes but I hate the way he receives all the plaudits when we actually have a talented squad who don't get nearly enough credit in my opinion. Also, sorry for Vaughan
Yeah, I don't look at the Everton defence with much hope. But, as with most games, this will boil down to two things: 1, the battle in midfield and I think with our current group playing brilliantly in the middle we should win this; 2, our defence has been mostly down, but occasionally up all season, if they can get a good performance together that could make all the difference. Don't worry about Vaughan, fortunately I don't actually think we've needed him at all! He's still got a few years on his contract so if he gets a good run he could still work out ok- think about RVP!
Sadly he has been injured all his career. Definitely has the potential to be a great player but doesn't look like it will happen sadly.
Everton is one of the sides I thought, at the beginning of the season, we could beat at home. I'm still going for the win but, after the run they've been on, I'm not quite so confident now.
this will be a tough one for us, and i wish we were playing them on Monday and not Spurs, as they (Everton) may rest some players for the cup semi the following weekend that said, Holt will be back and hopefully Pilkington, so i'm going to predict a score draw
