We been linked to loads of players in recent weeks. The summer overhaul reports have apparently been leaked, so the newspapers have just started to link us to all sorts of players. Would not take it too seriously.
At 28 Sessegnon would go for 8 million imo which isn't bad by any means. For that you can get a player twice as good from FC Groningen in Holland, a Croat called DuÅ¡an Tadić... I'd want him myself.
RAWhite - Hall Farm? That some kind of rural holding pen for people who are that boring that they just stop living? MONsMush - If Sess played for United, Arsenal etc, he'd be looked at as a £30million player, there's no question of that. - At both of these clubs there's probably one £30m midfielder - Wilshere (if he ever plays again). Sessegnon would be worth exactly the same at United, maybe less as we expose his shortcomings against Europe's elite. We are not some ****ty little club that has to just accept what the bigger boys are offering, we are a wealthy, growing and historically proud club. - Wrong, losing money year on year does not constitute a healthy financial status. You had to accept what Villa offered for Bent. You had to accept Gyan's loan request, you are in no position to pay the wages of a player who does not want to play for your club, that has been evidently proved by your chairman with the sales of the aforementioned two players and your "future" Jordan Henderson. You can and will accept bigger clubs cultivating your best players, that's where your mistake is in not recognising this. I've enjoyed this, thanks for the banter, (most of) you were constructive. Good luck against Spurs - my prediction 2-2 (Sessegnon x 2!)
Financially the losses are dropping year on year, and the club is moving forward with marketing etc in the Far-East and Africa. These things take time, but growing we certainly are. Remember, pre-Premier League and Sky, United didn't win a title for 27 years, and fell out of the league once. I'm not suggesting we are capable of growth like that, but to look at United now 20 years on, shows that clubs shouldn't be dismissed, if the right people are at the helm. Look at Chelsea, people universally accept them as one of the biggest clubs in English football history, when we all know that's bullshit. These things take time, as I say, but we are getting there. £24 million for Bent was a ludicrous fee, we had to take that. £10million for Sess, we just wouldn't.
Coming from a bloke who spends a significant part of his life trawling through other teams forums in order to gain some attention, I will take your comments with a pinch of salt..
Sooooo... You're straight, but you checked him out before ruling him out. I'm suspicious.... (have some rep, haha)
Bent forced his way out, as did Gyan please do not tell me we needed 6 million. Henderson for 20 million is ridiculous. He was by no means our 'future'. That's exactly it Bent went for 24 million. Do you think he would've went for 10?
To the mackems saying "we wouldn't sell Sess for 10m", I say you're in no position to say that. I agree you SHOULDN'T sell for that, but no way can you know the mind of your owner. I never thought we would sell Enrique for 6m. Your owner may feel that 10m would be enough for someone who is homesick (if true) and has 2-3 years left of top level football. Personally, I would say nearer the 14-16m mark, but you never know what your owner is thinking. Also, I'd do you a swap deal for Ba, give us Sess + 5million, I don't think Ba really fits in our side anymore, as much as I love him.
Ba is very injury prone, so we will take him off your hands for a swap for Gi, as long as you throw £5million into the pot as well..
£25 million for Tiote has often been spouted by our barcoded friends, now that is a laugh. As for Terry the Tool please don't come moping when Sess scores the winner against you last day of the season allowing City to nick the title, that would be a shame wouldn't it
That's a fee banded about the press, personally I think Cheik's market value is 10-15m but if there is serious interest from a rich club I'm sure the top brass would milk it for an extortionate fee. Probably 2 or 3 times his worth ala Carroll.
So in your opinion Sess is worth 8 million and Tiote is worth up to £15 million. You then go on that if a rich club came in he could go for 3 times his worth so your saying 30-45 million is a possibility while 8 million for Sess "isn't bad by any means", dear oh dear me, unless Doglesh comes calling again I think you will have to wait along time for that one.
Weasel555 Let's face it, that's an unlikely scenario isn't it? As for your losses, yes you've improved on last year's return but your net operating loss was over £30m - your club is turning over £80m and costing £110m to run. Your wages account for 75% of turnover...that's a crippling financial infrastructure...take a look at some of Bruce's (Quinn's) player acquisitions from last year, consider your wage bill and come back to me and tell me that Quinn wasn't fired because he was sinking your ship. RAWhite A significant part of my life? What my 260 posts to your 6,000? So what if I'm on another club's site, it's an open debate forum and the Newcastle and Sunderland boards seem to be healthier in terms of numbers than any other, it's just banter and discussion. You're just hostile because I disagree with you and some of your fellow posters. Take my comments with whatever you like, I'd prefer a more constructive response than some of your skip rat-esq, personal jibes, but if I get that kind of response I'll fire back in kind.
You got to take things into account, age for one and another is their position... I can guarantee to you it's harder to get a super talented anchor man than it is to get a super talented playmaker. The 30-45m price is 3-5 times Tiote's value... I imagine Ashley would try and the price past the 20 mark before selling... That's the type of guy Ashley is lol.
