A good article from nufc.blog today......

The job of a football manager is to bring out the very best in his players.

And by that accurate definition of a football coach’s job then Alan Pardew has done very well this season and by contrast Liverpool’s Kenny Dalglish has not.

A number of Newcastle players have played their very best at Newcastle this season including players like Tim Krul, Colo, Ryan Taylor, Ben Arfa, Danny Guthrie, Demba Ba and James Perch.

And it’s been the expert way in which Alan has handled his players, with the emphasis always being on the team, and how they are doing, rather than on any one individual player.

And it seems to have worked like a charm this season, with Newcastle over-achieving big time, and other teams who have spent much more money on players, like Liverpool as one good example, not doing well.

One player Pardew has handled expertly this season is Ben Arfa, who is coming into his very best form for Newcastle at the right time.

This is what Alan said about the mercurial French International:

“I’m highly delighted with Hatem, and he should be highly delighted himself,”

“He’s had to be patient. I’ve been drilling things into him about the responsibilities in this team.

“Then he’s had to bring his flair. He’s doing his responsibilities, and he’s showing his amazing ability.”

Indeed Ben Arfa has come out this season looking golden, because he has not always been in the starting line-up, yet we have heard not one murmur of complaint from him.

Of course Ben Arfa should be safe in the knowledge that Newcastle fans just adore him, and his mercurial skills will always be appreciated by the Geordie fans.

We have to hope that Ben Arfa can keep scoring and making goals in the final 7 games of the season, as he’s been doing all year, starting at Swansea on Friday afternoon.

The lad done great and deserves tremendous credit for the way he’s come back from his terrible double leg break of last year.

He’s not only a very skillful player, but he’s also a courageous lad, which may be even more important.

Totally agree with how Pards has handled Ben Arfa. In my opinion he is maturing as a player and improving every game but one thing that i have noticed is he seems to be worried about using his right foot. I know not many players are capable of skill with both feet but sometimes when he has the ball i am screaming for him to take him down the line and put in a cross with his right foot rather than feigning onto his left every time (It might be too predictable soon).

The problem is that if we start badly next season all the sheeps brains will start calling for his head.

I think he definitely can use his right though, I've seen him send in some near perfect balls with his right in the past, they aren't as whipped and deadly as with his left, but he can use it. I tend to think though that while he can succeed with his left, he might aswell use it, and use it to great effect as shown by his 3 assists and 1 goal in his last 2 games, all with his left. It's a deadly weapon, and should probably be used whenever he can I think.

Im thinking more about the times when he takes it to the goal line and its just screaming out to be played along the face of the goal or just dinked into the box. The Demba Due are more than capable of taking it from there!

Benni has been late with the whole maturing part of his game. Over the next year we will see a dramatic difference in his play, we can even see it in his last 5 games with us. The difference is crazy, he knows when to take players on and when not to, he knows when to track back. One thing he doesnt do is HOOF THE BALL when he is under pressure near our own box. Either way, Ive always liked his style of play ever since the champs league game against Liverpool when he was playing for Marseille. The spark of a rough diamond.

With Graham Carr scouting for us, I honestly dont mind if Ba and Tiote leave in the summer. As long as we keep Krul, Cabaye, Colo, Jonas, Cisse and The Hatem Bomb. With a few reinforcements we will be ready for either Europe, or another attempt at making it into Europe.
