A player commits a foul resulting in an injury to an opposition player who has to leave the pitch, either to get treatment or to be replaced by a substitute. During that time, the team that committed the foul have a numerical advantage and I think that's unfair.
How about a new rule? Any player who commits a foul resulting in a player having to leave the pitch should also leave the pitch until the player returns or a substitution is made. Now there has to be a time limit on this of say, 2 minutes for example if Messi fouled my player I'd rather play with 10 men and keep him off the pitch so there has to be some sort of time consideration. Any thoughts?

The whole leaving the pitch thing was supposed to stop the injury fakers taking time off the clock. If a 'foul' has led to a player going off injured, it's unusual that the tackler will not be given a red nowadays anyway... so it's a thumbs down for me (sorry). I hope your not proposing that just the person who did the tackle goes off, regardless if a foul or not - it would bring even more divers and fakers into the game.

newjersey, i can see where your coming from, because there's plenty of player's who will take out a tricky player, but there's so much play acting and diving going on, unless they go off injured, how are you to know if they are injured or not. what i hate is when a player fakes an injury just because he's lost possesion and the other team might be able to break quickly.

its an idea that has been put forward many times and fifa has always regected it and why is a mystery, if a player has to go off for treatment due to a foul that the ref gives a yellow only then that player who commited the foul should go off until the other player is ready to come back on, to me thats fair...

you cant take the tackle out of the game lads, even tho insurance companies would want it that way..

my take is if a player who`s just been rolling around like he`s broke his leg, comes back on after a drink of water and runs like nowt happened `di send him off for a being cheating stunt................we need the cheats out of the game but the fa doesnt seem interested <ok>.....why is cheating ok and a bad tackle the end of the world.

Retrospective video analysis and citing, followed by an automatic 3-game ban if a player is deemed to have cheated. That would stop the diving pronto.
