    From the Express......

KENNY DALGLISH will be asked to submit a written report on Liverpool’s shortcomings during a disappointing Premier League campaign as part of an urgent end-of-season review by the club’s American owners.

Dalglish’s position is not under any immediate threat but Fenway Sports Group (FSG) want answers as to why the club’s league form has unravelled so alarmingly. They are languishing in eighth place following six defeats in seven matches, the latest at Newcastle on Sunday.

The debrief will also extend to Dalglish’s assistant, Steve Clarke, and director of football Damien Comolli, who will be asked to provide their own evaluation.

Liverpool’s season has been split in two, success-wise.

They have struggled in the league but have won the Carling Cup and have an FA Cup semi-final against Everton at Wembley to come on April 14.

They will also be asked for ways of correcting the imbalance that has left Dalglish’s first full season back in charge under intense scrutiny.

Kenny Dalglish has been asked to explain the club's form on paper

The fact that FSG, founded by Liverpool principal owner John W Henry and chairman Tom Werner, are looking to include Dalglish in discussions as they plot the shoots of recovery illustrates that there is no particular appetite to sack him. Liverpool’s current sequence of league results is their worst since 1953-54 and it would require the downturn to worsen considerably for the Americans’ stance to alter.

FSG acknowledged when they bought Liverpool in October 2010 that restoring the club to their former glories would not be easy but are convinced they have the business and sporting acumen to oversee a renaissance.

it is also believed that a translator will be brought in to help make sense of his incoherent ramblings.

I could start him off like..... 'we are rubbish because I've bought a bunch of crap players and I haven't a clue how to manage them anymore'..... just saying.....

They obviously don't know that KD can't read or write then.

I love all this instant success malarkey. He's been in the job how long? And its already time to stop the project and start again. After spending way over the top on the list of players he gave you. These mutli billionnaire owners just will not learn that constant change never works! Muppets. That said I do think his tactics look a bit dated!

The likes of Liverpool and Chelsea seem to have taken over our crown of chop and changers.

If you buy a club knowing that they need a serious 'rebuild', you can't expect to fix it all in a season. Liverpool is a huge project, their history is what holds them back as people expect them to be challenging top 4 but realistically, so long as they finish in the top 8 or so whilst showing that they are making changes then I see no need to panic.

Yes money has been wasted but that's done now, can't turn back on that so they have to accept what they have. Gerrard will not last forever so they are bringing in young talent that will take time to settle. The likes of Henderson, Carroll, Downing, Enrique and Adam, they're all talented players but need time to gel. Liverpool aren't going to challenge for the title but they aren't going to get relegated either, fans and the board need to be patient and understand the process is a slow one. Handled correctly, Liverpool have the scope to be challenging in the future BUT bringing in a new manager is like hitting the reset button when it's a project such as that.

With us, we had pretty much finished our rebuild. Gone down, cut wages, fans adjusted expectations, build squad morale. That is why Pardew could step in and push us on. There is still too much to do at Liverpool and yeah, Chelsea.

I feel bad for him to be honest. At first it was well funny, but it's not really his fault the owners are morons - allegedly signing players from youtube; panic buying donkeys etc. And it takes time to rebuild a team, and if it hadn't been for injuries and Carroll being so ****e, they'd probably have pushed on a bit further this year. He should at least have a chance to sort it in the summer.

And who else would they get? Big Fat Sam?

What a stupid stance the media are taking with Liverpool and KD.

He's won the League Cup and have Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Sure, the recent league form has been rubbish and the new players haven't clicked yet, but really, after winning silverware this season, how is it even possible that the sack looms for KD? <doh>

    <laugh> ....modern football!

Actually there isn't. They have wasted 100m, not him. Its a common miscinception for fans to think managers negotiate the fees for players. The only managers I'm aware of that take any real interest in transfer fees is Wenger and Ferguson who try to guide their owners on value for money. That relationship is built over decades though. The rest just give a wish list, and the owners then go and get them if they can. Liverpools owners have tried to play billy big bollocks and ended getting taken to the cleaners. They clearly had no idea where to pitch in the market. I heard a rumour that Sunderland had privately put an 8m price tag on Henderson. Liverpools first offer was 16m!

Dalglish has delivered their first trophy in a few years, and still has a chance of adding another. If they were to win both and finish 7th, I think that would represent a good season and progress. The team that has been assembled is in its embryonic stages, and like any other team needs time to gel. This can take anywhere between 6 months and 3 years looking back through time. You'll get instant success stories along the way, like Pardew with us. In the main though, time is required. I'd never sack a manager after 1-2 years unless they are a blatant bad fit (like Big Sam and his direct football with us). Imagine if Man U had had this attitude with Ferguson. There'd have been no 19 league titles and football today would have been very different. But when he had them hurtling towards relegation (we're not talking 7th in the league and winning cups here), they had a man with foresight in charge and a set of bollocks. Martin Edwards knew time was the issue.

I'm not offering some big defence of Dalglish as he has made mistakes. But he has done a cracking job in the year and half he's had to take them from where Hodgson had them (who also just needed time but was a bad fit in that the fans didn't take to him) to being in the hunt for two trophies. Yes Dlaglish has experience of the league and knows it well, but a team still has to come together and some take longer than others.

Obviously while I sympathise with his situation and the ridiculous media witch hunt, I won't complain too much because we have been one of the main beneficiaries!!
