Dont use the site myself but saw in this page off nufc.net about Pieters watching the game and effectivley cheering us on its about 3/4 of the way down the page, seeing as we have been chasing him for a while and he has said he would like to play over here I would consider this a positive sign of a potential deal.

Was more looking for the quote of Rio Ferdinand slagging off perch at the bottom, with yet another ridiculous statement from Nile "imafuckingnumpty" Ranger

Sounds promising. Perhaps we have done another Cisse-esque deal done before window opens?

Almost any players who are looking for a move would want to play for a team that's playing football the way we are.

Pieters must have been impressed with what he saw.

Pieters referred to Sunderland as that lot when tweeting Krul before the Sunderland game.

Lee Ryder said on his webchat that this is a definite 'likely' deal for the summer, along with a new CB and a few youngsters

Certainly seems likely from the behavior of him and Krul. He just might be very supportive of Timmy though.

Would be a respectable signing. Can cover CB too.

Must admit I'm not that keen on what I've seen. But I have faith in our scouting and there must be a reason he is a dutch international.

I'm not sure if you were one of those doubters who were not too keen on what you'd seen of Cisse either. Amusing now to look back at it.

Pieters will be better than anything we've got at the present, if we're lucky enough to land him.

I say hes a must signing. Hes a good player.

On a side note. Im now chuffed to bits we didnt sign Mobido Maiga. If we had I am unsure as to whether or not we would have signed Cisse.

No I had faith in Cisse, always liked what I saw of him. I watched Pieters against England and there is just no getting away from it, he looked very very average. The odd one out in a dutch team of class and didn't look good with the ball. Got a few rapings too. To be fair though I think the lad was returning from injury and hadn't even managed a game for his club.

We were spoilt with Enrique of course. I couldn't see Pieters ever being in that class based on what I've seen but you enver know. As I say I have blind faith in our scouting team. He'll certainly be better than anything we have in that role given we don't have a left back! (not taking anything away from Santon and Raylor having a go)

I was one of the doubters, thought he looked like a bit of a Shola. Glad to say I've been proved wrong though!

Bit of simpletons way of looking at the comment to be honest. He had a shocker against England. Nevermind one overhit cross, he got raped several times and he looked uncomfortable on the ball. He looked the odd man out in a very classy side. However as I say I have faith in the scouting team, he is a dutch international (which you have repeated for some strange reason??) and its also worth noting that he had not had much football prior to the game due to injury. Indeed I don't think he had even played for his club at that stage. I have seen him on a few occasions and he has never set the world alight. You can only say what you see. I've seen him play both centre back and full back in equal measure, he looks maybe more comfortable as a centre back.

I'm guessing that's what I've based my opinion on rather just looking at "Dutch International, Newcastle interested" and thinking "great he must be fantastic" like some people do.

The England game was the first competitive football he had played since a long injury lay-off... he hadn't even played for PSV.

Aye I wouldn't judge him on that game. He was shocking but I'd have to be honest and say the games I've seen, he's looked solid but average. As I say I don't watch him every week, our scouting team will have to form their opinion. They don't seem to be wrong very much!
