Ra was making an example, not a list.

Does a list, by nature, not have to contain more than one item?

You don't need it, but its not grammatically incorrect so it makes no difference.

Bazray, you've been using that all night. I've yet to see anything like a good put-down from you. Seems to be mostly just harking back to past liverpool glories or telling people its their bedtime. That wouldn't have passed for banter on the chaotic match-day threads of the original 606.

There's no difference between an example and a one item list.
If I said:

'Here's an example for you: Steven Gerrard.'

That's no different to:

'Here's some examples for you: Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt.'

The first has a single item, the latter two items. Both are lists, as well as examples.

**** it, this is the last I'm posting on the subject now:

"Semicolons and Coordinating Conjunctions

You should never use a semicolon and a coordinating conjunction such as “and,” “so,” and “but” to join two main clauses; that's the job of a comma. If you want to use a coordinating conjunction you'd write it like this:

I have a big test tomorrow, so I can't go out tonight."

And sorry if my form has been short of sparkling, it is very difficult when your team gets battered every week. Even City have let me down.

Baz, you just slated someone for banging on about our 19 titles and then you trot out the 5 European Cups mantra.

The only difference is he didn't mention the 19 titles.

Poor banter. Very poor.

Hi Dave, did you **** yourself to sleep in your Ian Rush duvet last night while watching re-runs of CHiPs? Good times.

Wtf is wrong with you people, you're writing comments on a football forum not a dissertation or something important. Nothing worse than arguments about grammar.

Don't be an even more silly boy than you have already proved yourself to be. If I did need sexual relief in order to get to sleep then the subject would certainly be female.

So who do you feel like being today?
