brendan needs to spice things up a bit, he needs to drop sinclair and danny for a while, the last time he dropped danny for his goal drought he came of the bench and scored, 6 games with zero goals is unacceptable and needs to be addressed. sinclair this season has not produced anything to shout about and has gone from hero to zero and he needs time on the bench. we need to bring in a better striker in the summer as danny works hard but as our main striker dont score enough and like sinclair wastes to many chances.....im not to concerned as i am sure we are safe so maybe its time to let others have a go and drop a few
Well I know that when we lose a couple of games or a single game for that matter, a bit of a bad atmosphere comes on here, and everyone starts talking about how bad our team is. I thought it would be good to remind everyone of how well we've done before we start saying we should sell Monk or Rangel Sinclair Graham etc... It's good to debate about the team. I guess i'm just giving my point of view.
Fair comments guys, it is difficult to critical i know but as ivor said There have been certain things creeping into our game of late, something we haven't addressed is fatigue, we have used the same players all season and they must be a bit tired physically and mentally, its been a massive effort by all. There is still alot of hard work to do,as buck said, we need to be at 100% just to compete, i Get the feeling other teams have an extra gear we dont, Newcastle Will be a great barometer of where we Are at.
Don't think anyone is saying we are a bad team. But the sheer class of the opposition highlighted our weaknesses yesterday, namely Rangel's snail-like pace and Monk's inability to defend properly at this level. As for DG, I'm not sure that buying in a new striker is the answer. He's a talented lad but you need the ball to be fed to him in the right positions to score. We could have had Messi in orange yesterday and he would have been the same. Seriously. NJ, you're right about 'Pintado syndrome'. DG is being worked to death and does a decent job tracking back etc. but his defensive duties are starting to have an effect on his real role - in front of goal. No service = no goals.
OK, Monk did`nt play all that brilliantly, neither did a few others as well. Spurs are a class side and had us sussed for the biggest part of the game. When we equalised, I thought we might get something, but not to be. Next up the Toon, if we play like we did yesterday, it`s going to be another long afternoon. They were on song yesterday, albeit against a very poor Liverpool side, let`s hope that they play that badly against us at the end of the season. After that we have QPR, Blackburn, Bolton & Wolves. The first 3 are fighting for their lives & might well be just as hard, if not harder than yesterday`s game. With the way we are performing lately, I have doubts as to winning any of them. We might already be safe, but it`s no harm in getting a few more points just to be sure of safety. Until we are mathematically safe, there will always be doubt & worries. Over pessimistic, yes, but with an optimism as well. Come on guys let`s start playing & winning games like we know we can.
I think we'll beat the Toon. There, I've said it. Defensively they are missing key players like the 2 Taylors and Collocini. We have Caulker back to cope with Cisse and Ba. A good time to play them imo.
I think the problem with DG is that he works so hard tracking back trying to win the ball that when we do win in there's no forward outlet and by the time Danny has bust a gut getting up there the defence have tracked him. Maybe he needs to be more selfish or have confidence that his team mates will win the ball back so he can concentrate on staying up front
i dont buy into this DG dont get any service as that excuse now is wearing thin, he gets enough ball but he fails to do anything with it, for the amount of work rate he puts in should be producing goals, to make excuses he is not getting any service is not true but his inability to make goals is lacking for main striker. sinclair has produced some nice touches but he is to greedy and thrives on all the hype of last season and trys to go for glory by himself, he would have scored a shed full of goals if the goalposts were 20 feet higher and 10 feet wider. i dont blame the defence because monk is a cover now and rangel has lost his form a bit. monk needs to go into the coaching staff and get his badges and sinclair needs to be dropped along with danny for their poor efforts and inability to score goals, thank god we have sig at the moment and a decent midfield. we have a lot of work to do in the summer assuming brendan is still with us as next season will be much harder as teams will be ready for us and we wont have the surprise element anymore...brendan or whoever is the manager has to have plan A,B,and even C next season....
Wrong. Can you think of one instance yesterday when Graham had the ball fed to him (feet or head) in a goal scoring position? No, neither can I. How can you 'not blame the defence' for two lame goals that should have been defended?
he dont get into the right spaces, and you are saying he has not had any service at all for the last 6 games then. then why has nothing been done about it???? he has enough service, your talking bullshithe just cant finnish
The role of lone striker has always been a thankless task in the Swansea set-up. Scotland seemed to benefit from it, but we seemed to get the ball into his feet a lot of the time and he did the rest. Our play nowadays seems to go in a huge U-shape, down the wings and across the back four and not much up the centre of the pitch - those opta chalkboards showed it quite well. We have Sinclair cutting in from the left and firing everything over the bar, Siggurdson rifling the shots in from outside the box (and thankfully scoring goals, otherwise we wouldn't be scoring any at all). Poor old Danny doesn't get a look in. Even when he makes a run away from a defender nobody gives it to him.
KJ- I think it was Ivor that coined the phrase "pintado syndrome" not me, a very accurate way to describe the situation though fair play
Danny Graham is a lone cannon without ammunition. The midfield carry the bullets but they seem incapable of getting them to him. As for not being in position, he has to do so much chasing and harrying up front, if the ball breaks quickly he's not going to be in position is he? We got Siggy to supply him because Britton, Allen and the rest were patently failing to do so. It worked at first (Siggy to DG v Arsenal) but, for some reason (possibly the team going off the boil), the supply has dried up again. Fortunately, Siggy has been getting the goals. If you want more goals from DG, Dai, then Buck is going to have to tell him to conserve his energy and work off the last shoulder. Fat chance, though, because Buck is trying to work on the high pressure game to win the ball back and it all starts with Danny Graham up front. As it happens, I agree that Danny should be benched and Luke Moore given a start - not because Danny isn't cutting it, he just needs a damned good, well earned rest.
how much longer are we going to use the excuse that he gets no service, he See's enough of the ball through out the game but he dont know how to make himself space to get a goal. all this rubbish he dont get any service is just plain stupid, fans are confusing all his running as work rate, if he was giving his fellow team mates someone to pass to as a forward should instead of running back chasing fresh air then he may score now and again. he has to make spaces going forward and try and lose his marker so the midfield can give him the ball, all we see is him running around like a headless chicken and when he does get the ball he is stumped on what to do with it and his finishing is very poor. we cant keep making excuses for his lack of flair and poor positioning....anyone can run around all game but we want someone who knows what they are doing when they get the ball a lot better than danny is doing this season....
I wonder how many actually go to matches. Sitting at the game I was proud at some of the football we played. As for monk and teams letting him have the ball, Spurs are not the first team to do this even last season, only because his passing is not as good as the rest. Teams do this to Cauker also, As for having a brute in midfeild we have not needed one even Kemmy has not shone when played ( subbed halftime the gunners did very little ) Spurs tried to stop us playing But possesion was still high and only Bale was the difference. But dont blame only rangel for this. WE WERE AWAY TO SPURS AND THEY HAD A PLAN FOR US have a debate yes But have a sense of realism and be proud. We will not go down and will finish top half
Very true. Top half is dreamland but I'd be delighted if we do. We've done remarkably well. To say Graham 'can't finish' (Daiswan) is absolute pants. I'm up for a debate but try to have a point of very that has a modicum of credibility. When pundits have analysed the way we play, all have praised Graham for his work rate and his movement. He creates space for others this way and is very good at it imo. As ivor says he doesn't have the ammunition and is receiving the ball close to the halfway line on most occasions. I really can't think of one occasion when he got the ball in a goal scoring position and I suspect neither can anyone else. How is that his fault?
another rubbish post from kangaroo. 6 games zero goals and he is our main striker....drop him and put luke moore up front at least he do get in scoring positions and scores goals when he plays at a more ratio basis.
